If you are a surfer, you'll find that this place is ideal for someone looking for an affordable stay ON the beach. We came at a time when the waves were wonderfully huge. It was windy for us but I guess that's rare and really depends on the season. Another major benefit that we found we wouldn't normally get for this price was the room with a balcony overlooking the ocean. I gathered that at least half of the rooms in the whole building were like this. The location was nice because it was off the beat and path. We were the only hotel in the area and the neighborhoods were fairly desolate in the month of January. The beach in front of the hotel was not the best for swimming or sunbathing but Luquillo Beach, which was a 3 min drive, was perfect. If you are looking to avoid the resorts, feel more connected to the island, and make your own discoveries, this place is for you.

Have just returned from a five night stay at the Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn. We were in room 24 - with king bed, extended balcony, microwave, small refrigerator, and wifi service. Outstanding service is what makes the Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn so special. Every staff member was friendly and helpful - with directions, suggestions for activities and locations to visit, assistance with printing boarding passes, etc. As mentioned in other reviews, the breakfast is great - plentiful and fresh. Each of our five mornings featured a different hot entree. Beach towels and chairs are available free of additional charge each day. Location is perfect. We used Luquillo as a base to explore a variety of water activities - time at several beaches, snorkeling, sailing, kayaking, and diving. We also visited El Yunque. Old San Juan was included in our three days there prior to traveling to Luquillo. There are several good restaurants within a two block radius of the inn as well. But the very best part was the view off the balcony of the ocean and listening to the tree frogs "sing" each night. Yes, the area surrounding the inn has some vacated properties, but every person we encountered in the community was friendly and helpful. We did not want one of those all inclusive, programmed vacation resorts. Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn was exactly what we wanted and more! We will be back!!!!!

We loved this hotel! The rooms were clean, but if you're into chic decor, this's isn't the place for you. Being right across the street from the ocean was great - we coud hear the waves from our beds. TV left something to be desired, but who watches TV on vacation? Maria was a fabulous host and was very hospitable. The breakfast was our favorite part - freshest fruit we ate in all of Puerto Rico!

I was going to go on about all the good things at Luquillo Sunrise and can't say it any better than the other folks that were here in Jan 2012 with us! The pasta restaurant was wonderful and a unique PR experience. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable about things to do in the area. The street between the Inn and the beach has very little traffic and we never had any trouble getting across to enjoy it. There is a noise ordinance in Luquillo and the police are very responsive to any problems. Our only problem was another set of inn guests that were loud and obnoxious after 10PM and they quit after my husband let them know it was an issue.
Breakfast was delicious and varied each day- lots of fresh fruit, oatmeal and pastries besides the hot entree of the day. If I had to complain about something, the beds could be better but we were so tired , we still slept well.
