“Real Puerto rico”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

i've stayed all over the island. people who dont know PR expect to stay at some sandy beach front resort inwhich there are, but thats not the what puerto rico is really like thats just commercial poo. If you really want to know what a rainforest is like then stay here. it's not that far off from el junque or the beach and during the day you can eat at local places for authentic food. if you stay in san juan you'll pay 10 dollars for everything i mean 10 dollars for one drink!...Ceiba is great very relaxing, at first i was like wtf no tv? then i opened my door and just sat outside listening to the frogs chirp and roosters it was sooo very puertorican. i just wanted to sit there with my husband and drink rum while smelling the night air. the feeling of adventure and freedom becomes very apparent and intoxicating it's like being some where with no boss, bills or worries like a well ISLAND! there no omg what should i wear to impress my friends. it is very simple and relaxing a great place to reconnect with family and loved ones. and i have two little twins they enjoyes them selves with the very friendly animals. im going back there in a few months. and i discovered it completely by accident we were lost and neaded a hotel so we picked a random one on GPS..only thing is bring your own food becz the town over can get complicated to get in and out of and getting lost on PR highways is a pain in the a#s!

Room Tip: just ask the owner was friendly

“It's friendly and clean but.......”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

it's limited. It's hard to find but If you pass the Jungle Bar you're on the right road.
TV in the lounge only (I hope you like CNN), WiFi is secured after 2100. We had a good bed (Room #1) and things were very neat and clean but I soon found that the shower ran cold. We were there two nights and it remained cold all the while. The continental breakfast was adequate. If you're noise sensitive bring earplugs, the Coqui are many and very loud.

Room Tip: Bring with you your best spirits for there's no bar and conditions are a bit rough.

“Not fancy but good quality where it matters.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

This place is a gem. It is very private, up a long, steep drive. There is a wonderful patio where you can enjoy an excellent breakfast (included) of whatever is seasonal, fresh from the property, or the fancy of the proprietor that day. It is all excellent. The view through the mountain across the valley to the ocean and Culebra is fantastic. We had a full moon on our stay and got some great pix.

There are some friendly pets who are well behaved. They add a homey feel to the place.

The rooms are basic, a little dated and quaint but spotless. I would definitely go back again.

“Frog songs in the bush”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Two families stayed here together, each in a separate room. We really enjoyed the forest setting, the frog songs all night, and the lovely breakfast with fresh bread and fruit every morning. We appreciated Michael's advice -- he sent us to some really good restaurants! The setting is amazing, but it's pretty hard to find -- get a good map and good instructions. If you don't like dogs and cats roaming around, it might not be your cup of tea. The facilities are clean and basic, a bit dated, but all fine. It's a nice touch that Michael gives you a beach bag with beach towels to take with you. If you should be travelling around New Year's Eve, though, beware. Everything shuts early.

“A lovely, quiet place with a great dog”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

We spent three nights at the Ceiba Country Inn. The room was simple, clean and very comfortable. We loved leaving the windows open at night to hear the coquis singing--so peaceful. The property is beautiful, with great views--and many spots to sit and enjoy them, including right outside our room. Breakfasts are simple and filling, with fruit, cereals, and breads, including Mike's own delicious home-baked breads and muffins. Mike was an excellent host, very helpful and informative; he seems to have tried just about every restaurant in the general area. And we just fell in love with Shakira, the incredibly cute and friendly and playful dog. The only small drawback to the place was the sometimes inconsistent hot water. But that's outweighed by all the other strengths.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the rooms with a view.
