“BEAUTIFUL VIEWS”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

We took a 2 day mini-vacation to Treasure beach area from negril in Sept. 2011. We decided to take a look at the rooms at Sunset Resort Villa's....WOW, large spacious rooms that are very well decorated. Since this was slow season we pretty much had the resort to ourselfs. We stayed in the honeymoon octagon room on the second floor overlooking the beautiful caribbean waters. We had dinner served up on our verandah over looking the sea...chef Lola is an awesome cook ! Pool was cleaned early morning just in time for me to enjoy an early morning swim. The sunsets are the most awesome sunsets i have seen in jamaica, nothing compared to Negrils !
We WILL be returning possibly on our upcoming vacation in Feb. and so look forward to having our special room again :)

wendy

“The best South Coast property!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 March 2011

My 83 year-old mother & I had the fortune of being able to stay at the Sunset Resort & Villas, on Jamaica's South Coast, in Treasure Beach, this past December. Here, you will find a very laid-back, relaxing time. Unlike other parts of the island, there are no speeding drivers & in fact relatiavely fewer cars. Sunset Resort provided for all our needs in a comfortable yet elegant setting!

On your approximately 2-1/2 hour trip from Montego Bay down to the South Coast, you will be overtaken by the green & flowering landscape while rising higher & higher into the Cockpit Mountain range ("Mi No Sen, You No Come”). On the southern side of the mountain range, you will then descend to the South Coast. The coastal community of Treasure Beach, is at about the first 1/3 of the west side of Jamaica. Upon your arrival to Sunset Resort & Villas, you will see that this place is definitely, as it designates itself, "A Little Piece of Heaven"! The sunset there is not rivaled anywhere in the world – nothing like seeing the entire trajectory of the sun throughout the day facing south in the winter north of the Tropic of Capricorn & then watching it drop off into the sea!

Mom & I stayed in the Sunset Dream 2, Villa 2, on the leeward side of a cottage facing the Caribbean Sea. Our room was wonderful; we had an extremely comfortable king-sized bed w/ bedside tables & lamps on both ends, ample space for 2 people to unpack & put things out, a large bathroom that included a coffee-maker and you could see the sea from the bed through the double French doors. It also included one of those energy-effecient air-conditioning units on a wall near the ceiling w/ remote control and a TV, neither of which we turned on. Our porch, complete with lounge chairs & a cafe-style table & chairs, was the place where we spent every morning, enjoying our coffee & tea & talking or reading the Jamaica Gleaner. Birds & flowers are everywhere!

The Sunset Resort restaurant was just a few paces away & provided us with an incredible full breakfast every morning. The breakfast for both of us was included in the price of our room & we could pick anything off the menu that we wanted (eggs, omlettes, french toast, bacon or sausage, whole-wheat toast, a fruit plate, juices and coffee or tea). We also enjoyed the restaurant for incredible dinners. One night, we had a wonderful salad & dressing, Grilled Kingfish, perfectly-cooked vegetables & rice ‘n’ peas. Sunset Resort is a family-owned business, operated by Kory South. Kory is an avid fisherman & actually catches the fish for your meals!!!

The pool at Sunset is really one of the most unique & comfortable I've ever been in. It has a ledge to sit on that goes around the entire perimeter, which allowed my mother to be in the pool without fear of getting in over her head; this is also a great feature for families with young children.

At Sunset, you are right nearby all of the places to eat in Treasure Beach. Right next-door to the west is Jake's Place & the Jack Sprat restaurant. Further west is Fisherman's Beach with all of its restaurants & beaches.

One more thing: I am a Type 1 Diabetic on an insulin pump. Our last night at Sunset, my insulin pump ceased working, which threw both me & my mom into sheer panic. However, every single staff member at Sunset immediately understood the gravity of the situation & "jumped into action" in assisting me. They got me a driver & took mom & I to the hospital at Black River. One of the employees, Merle, stayed there in the ER with us for 6 hours until 3 am., even thought she had to work the breakfast shift. Having a medical emergency in a foreign country is a scary experience but the Sunset staff handled everything with precision & made us feel comfortable in spite of it. The "extended family" there deserves kudos for everything they did our entire stay there & are simply "the BEST"!!

“Very accommodating.. good choice for the best beach area in Jamaica”

Sunset Resort has standard hotel rooms as well as bigger suites, a wide sweeping view of the sea and a nice pool and overlook. The premises are just before the more well-known Jakes Resort. We were travelling as a family of 5 and they accommodated us nicely and affordably in one of the big poolside rooms. We had a rent-a-car and came into town without any reservations not knowing quite where we'd end up, but feel that it worked out great. Had the place pretty much to ourselves along with one other party. We got meals and drinks right there. Meals a little on the pricey side but good.. there are a number of eating options within walking distance. Management and staff were friendly and accessible. Great location for walks on the beach or around the village.

“Truly a piece of heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 June 2010

Tranquility at its best!!! I love the breakfasts and the staff were so friendly. Just a few set backs: only one TV channel, and they were out of some food items, but the friendly smiles made up for it. If there were no TV and no food, I wouldn't care!!!! I just can't get over the staff members. Everybody had a smile. Much love to Cheryl, Roxanne, Janet, and Tresan (Intern)!!! Lots of hugs. See you again... Clarkes
