If you want to get away from the hustle & bustle then this is the place..It's quite 'rustic' calm and tranquil. The cottage we stayed was just few steps up from the beach..the cottage has an equipped kitchen so we got supplies from a nearby supermarket and did out own cooking.. now why would I want to be at a 'get-way' and cook? that's why I made HIM do all the cooking. (lol) Stepping down to the beach I could not believe how warm and relaxing the water was..I didnt want to get out. ..

Went to Jakes with my boyfriend and we loved Jakes. After reading reviews I was little skeptical. This is not a 5 star hotel but it makes up for it with the darling cottages. Our room had doors that opened right into the deck above the sea. You could lay in bed and watch the ocean forever. Also we had an outdoor shower that was made from seashells that sat right over ocean.
The food was so fresh and good. Everything was from the local farms delivered daily
The night life is minimal but we loved that. Our only worry was what time we wanted to go down the stairs to the sea to snorkel . The snorkeling was wonderful. Beautiful colored fish in an amazing reef shelf. Amazing. Nothing bad yo say about Jakes. Very friendly staff. And Doogie makes the best bloody Mary we have ever drank. Can't wait to return. We will go back every year to Jakes.

I have been going to Treasure Beach for 5 years now and have seen Jakes in many states. First time I went there we sat by the pool and had a few drinks. Every year we definitely eat at the restaurant by the ocean, Jack Sprats - GREAT Pizza!! The issue I have had the last couple of years is that the pool was disgusting the last couple of years we have been there. There is no beach right at Jakes (you have to walk to Frenchman's Bay) so a broken pool is not acceptable for the price you pay to stay there. They have some spa services (great location for spa)and the rooms/villas look nice but not for the price they charge.

The rooms are quaint but small. The open windows are interesting but require that you totally "board up the room" everytime you leave. The salt water pool is not inviting and you really have limited eating choices on Jake's daily menu. So it is really hard to give a top rating when compared to other places on our Jamaica trip. That being said, if your travels to warm weather places have been limited, then Jake's will wow you. We found the service nice, but not outstanding. I think, after all the prior reviews, I was expecting to be wow'd, and was only pleasured.
