We arrived early with our back packs and were treated to a much appreciated early check-in (room 8). Our large room had the most comfortable bed, modern, up-market en-suite and fantastic views of the islands and the town. The dining room and entrance lounge are very grand with sweeping views across the water. The whole place harks back to by-gone era and is clearly being lovingly restored by the new owners. There are smart leather sofas around the open fire which is the cosiest place to sit. Breakfast was generous with a combination of self-service and table ordered hot food. Self-service toast seems to cause more than its share of blackened disasters though! We ate dinner in the restaurant one evening and it was very good. Local langoustines to start and venison with raspberries for main course. All very classy. The bar is well stocked and a great way to end the evening. After a day out walking in October, returning to the welcoming hotel was a real treat. Nothing was too much trouble and we loved our stay.
