“Simple, pleasant, great setting and good value for money. Biker and pet friendly.”

This is a traditional Scottish Pub/Hotel providing excellent value for money and great food. Portions are generous to say the least, and simply prepared from high quality local materials, and there's a great choice on the menu. The Monkfish Tails and Rib-Eye Steak were excellent indeed, and the traditional Scottish breakfast should set you up for the rest of the day.

Not the Hilton by any means, but then neither are the prices. We must suspect that some of the previous reviews were written by people expecting £100 rooms for the price of a B&B. ALL rooms inspected were clean, tidy and cosy. You can expect a warm welcome with service pitched just about right for us. Bikers are especially welcome (owner is a biker himself !). Traditional local beers are on tap, and the coffee is as good as it gets.

Stayed here for 1 night this month. Previous reviewer is right about the stink as you go up the stairs, like old damp carpet. Bedroom small and luckily at the back so avoided noisy bar full of young local lads. Food was good but same barmaid was waitress and breakfast host and seemingly chef next morning. But bedroom only had superficial clean, towels stained and loo had dried sick stains. For 60 quid a night for two of us It's a ripoff

“Great location, good beer, good food, BUT.....”

The website was impressive and we actually had no other choice of accommodation in the area. The online booking system appeared not to have worked but a room was available. Our room was clean enough if a bit tired, although we had to go up a very smelly staircase/landing to reach it. One of the open rooms on the ground floor was possibly a guest lounge except that it was full of junk. The Allargue Arms appeared to be run by blokes, for blokes - result is great beers in a superb setting at the foot of the steep, infamous Cockbridge road. What was good also was the food - very good.
Had we been there on any other night, things may have been just acceptable, however,
the heavy metal karaoke machine began (without warning) below our room soon after our bedtime and continued until after midnight. This was then followed by loud, abusive language outside until the small hours. Breakfast was necessary for our next day's activities, otherwise I would have paid and left. It's basic - very basic - on another visit we might have reported a quirky, 'different' hostel in the wilds. As it was our experience was dire....we favour a night's sleep over a heavy metal karaoke!!

“Welcoming and friendly but with a professional atitude.”

Basic country pub/hotel/restaurant. Needs a little TLC as far as the decor is concerned but this fades into the background when the food comes. Very well cooked and fresh. Basic menus but with not too many choices. (some places give you hundreds to choose from but little quality. The service was just right, not intrusive but attentive. Prices very reasonalble for the quality provided. Enjoyed the experience,

The hotel is set within the beautiful surroundings overlooking Corgarff which was an added bonus. Very friendly, welcoming staff. Overall hospitality excellent. Would highly recommend the 'steak' which the landlord cooks to perfection. Anyone visiting this area or just passing through should drop in and enjoy the hospitality of Allargue Arms.
