We were booked in at another Hotel in Malgrat, and were informed a week before departure that it was no longer available. Due to low guest numbers, it would be closing early for the winter. Hotel Mercury looks impressive from the prom. Its position across the road from the train station makes it an ideal base for travelling around the Costa Brava. We can't fault the Hotel staff, they were all very friendly and efficient. Our room was spotless, and all public areas were too. The Hotel was full of Spanish pensioners on their annual holiday. The entertainment was geared towards them, which is totally understandable................. you ARE in Spain! The only criticism we have is that the food, although of reasonable quality, was consistently cold. Not lukewarm, cold. We counteracted that by zapping it in the microwave for a couple of minutes. If you weren't able to eat the food in this Hotel, you would have a fairly long walk to the nearest eaterie. It didn't have cafe's and bars in the immediate vicinity, although there are other Hotels.
P.S. We are the other two British guests from the previous review!
