We were so glad we chose this hotel. There were cheaper options on Santorini, but the experience here was well worth every cent.

Christos was everything promised by all the other reviewers. He was so kind an attentive- we really felt spoiled. The staff were all friendly and knowledgeable, truly eager to help us enjoy our stay.

Our room was cozy, very clean, and with a stunning view. The pool is small, but as a small hotel it was never crowded.

Location, we thought, was perfect. We didn't want to be in a noisy or crowded place, but also didn't rent a car. It was a 15-20 min walk to Fira, which was perfect for getting to restaurants or shopping, but still quiet and much more private than other hotels we saw. Oia is a very easy bus ride away.

Overall, this is an ideal place for a romantic vacation. I can't say enough good things about it.

My wife and I arrived late at night at the Altana and were met my Andrea and Chris. They immediately welcomed us and helped orient us to Santorini. Our room had corner windows with sensational views of the caldera, and our own private patio where we had our wonderful breakfast tray delivered each morning. It felt like being on top of the world.
During our four days on the island we were given helpful information about seeing other areas. (And I might add, we were always addressed by name whenever any of the management spoke to us) For example, while all the travel books say to go to Oia to see the sunsets, Chris suggested that we go there early in the day before the crowds arrive. And were we ever glad that we did. Oia has some wonderful shops and galleries, and we were able to enjoy them before the tour buses arrived.
And so each night we enjoyed watching the sunsets from our viranda while enjoying our wine and cheese. On two nights there were weddings just below our patio at the church below which were very festive and fun to watch.
We relaxed by the small pool in the afternoons and just could not get enough of the wonderful vistas.
My wife and I have now returned home, and I just developed some photos to frame so that we can smile and remember our wonderful time at the Altana.

The traditional rooms have been renovated with a lot of taste, magic touches and individual terraces overlooking the volcano. Perfect spot for the sunset or just a breath-taking view over the caldera. The service was exceptionally good, very dedicated, knowledgeable and attentive team. This spot is a gem, perfect for honeymooners, or a romantic getaway, we had an amazing and relaxing stay!
On a more practical point it is important to say the rooms smell very nice and are not humid like most "cave style" rooms, the town is only 20 min walking distance by the cliff and generally,m Imerovigli has everything you need.

We stayed here for our honeymoon for 2 nights in late August. Like other reviewers had mentioned, this place was just so beautiful and romantic. We were off to a rocky start because I had asked the owner to arrange transportation from the airport to the property but due to some miscommunication, we were never picked up at the airport so my husband and I ended up taking a taxi to Altana. To make it up to us, Christos (I am assuming he's one of the owners) had offered to upgrade us to a bigger room. I opted not to go for the bigger room because the original room we booked had a nicer view. However, Christos' genuine sincerity had really calmed us down and we couldn't stay angry. Christos is also very informative and recommended places for us to explore and good restaurants for us to eat at (and my god, were they good. Some of the best food I had on my entire Europe trip).This property also has a very good view of the sunset and it is very romantic and peaceful enjoying it on our private veranda.

The property itself is located on the mountain, and a little out of the way but the walk down to Fira is about 15 to 20 minutes (the walk up is a little longer). There's a bus stop located a few minutes from the property for you to go to Oia as well.

Overall, great hospitality and service, great breakfast, great host, magnificent view, beautiful infinity pool, nice room, what more can you ask for?
