“Second visit and still unbeatable - highly recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

This is our second year at Sitia Bay apartments and it just gets better. It’s hard to think of anything that could be improved because this family run place is a gem, with every detail anticipated and thought about. For people looking for a step up from the average bare room with nothing memorable, this place is it. Apartments are immaculately clean and all have a balcony overlooking the sea, which is just in front of the building. Every morning we had the most amazing breakfast on our balcony listening to the sea lapping the shore. The owners leave home made fresh bread, marmalades and jams, cakes, milk and juice every day in your room so you can have breakfast at leisure, the time you want on your own balcony – bliss! No more bland buffet breakfast rooms with strangers in the morning before you have had your daily caffeine! They can also provide good information on places to visit and where to go in the area for those looking for an authentic experience and to go where the Greeks go rather than the other tourists. The roof terrace is a marvel, with amazing views over Sitia and the spectacular sunsets. Quality: value is exceptional. It’s easy to see why many people who come here return year after year – just as we will again next year. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ask the owners for tips about where to go and beaches - they are super friendly and a mine of superb...

“The best place in Sitia”

We believe it’s the best place to stay in Sitia. Quite large, nice and clean rooms located just opposite the beach and within walking distance from the center of the town. Each room has a fully equipped kitchenette. The pool area is quite big and the garden surroundings are well-kept. The swimming pool itself is very nice and never crowded. You can also enjoy the sunset and the view of Sitia in a very relaxing environment on the roof. The owners are extremely kind and helpful and have valuable advice for everything you may need (beaches, restaurants, excursions etc) – we discovered this during our first call for the reservation and it was proven again during our stay. Every single day of our stay we would find something homemade such as bread, pie or cake left in our room. Even though we hadn’t booked for breakfast, the last day it was offered to us in addition to a bottle of local wine. We would really like to visit Sitia in the future and we will definitely stay in Sitia Bay.

“Wonderful family-run hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

We arrived later than planned during the day due to an unfortunate incident in Heraklion (being pickpocketed, and then travelling across town to report it in the Heraklion police station). It was close to 10pm when we finally checked into Sitia Bay Hotel. Reception was closed by then, as Eric had advised us when we notified him of our late arrival - but his father was eating out close by and very kindly came along and checked us in and showed us into our room. Eric's mother left wonderful home-made baked goods for us too, truly delicious.

We met Eric the next day. He is very approachable and relaxed, and very knowledgeable about the local area, as you'd expect. We didn't have long to spend in Sitia, so as per the recommendation went to a nearby monastary and an excellent restaurant that was just a bit past the monastary, which served amazing local cuisine.

The room was very clean, airconditioned, with a safe. It had a kichenette with kettle and toaster, which we used. We paid for (continental) breakfast with our room, and for €6 each per day, it was very filling and most satisfactory.

An in all, a fantastic experience. I will be back - where else do the people that run the hotel bring cactus figs for you to taste, just because their friend dropped off some freshly picked figs that morning?

Room Tip: All the rooms seemed to have beachfront views - we were on the second floor, in room 24, which we lo...

“Perfection”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2011

We stayed at the Sitia Bay for nine nights in September 2011. We arrived late at night to be greeted personally by Eric who showed us to our apartment complete with a freshly baked loaf of bread and a complimentary and high quality welcome pack. The apartment was very well equiped to a high standard and had obviously been looked after with great care. The location is great with the beach and town close by. As the previous reviews have said the help and advice on restaurants, places to go and general information greatly enhanced our stay. As regular Greek visitors we are used to the Greek welcome but the Sitia team exceeded anything we have experienced before. The teams attention to detail and help was greatly appreciated. We will return to these apartments and do not hesitate to recommend them.

Room Tip: If possibly try for a room on the top floor in the middle as they have the best view.

“Excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2011

I can add little to the comments below: a spotlessly clean apartment block built around a lovely pool and garden, with a lovely beach 20m across a qiuet road. Eric and the hosts are faultless - his suggestions for places to eat or visit are totally reliable. We were made very welcome - and wish we had booked for longer.

Sitia is a lovely working town with a tourist element. There are plenty of tavernas along the pretty harbour/promenade. Even at the height of the season in August it did not feel full or too busy. Not many people live at this end of the island and there are no hig rise or overly touristy hotels.
