“Perfect location with a very friendly staff!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2011

Renia Apartments has a perfect location in Agia Pelagia, located in the center of the village, near the beach and shops. Only 305 Euro in high season (Aug 13-20 2011).
We have been in the village many times. This time with short notice Renia was the only hotel available for me and my wife. We have seen the hotel many times walking by, and I must say it was better than expected now when we stayed there for a week.
Best: The location in the center of the village, near to beach, tavernas and shops but still quite at night.
Also: The very friendly staff, who made everything they could for us to have a nice week at their hotel.
The apartment was average but everything we needed was there, clean enough, and there were no bugs. The breakfast was cheap (3 Euro) but still had quite enough to eat for us.
The pool is small with little space around it - but since the beach is just a minute away it didn't matter.

“Looks can be deceptive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2011

Having visited Agia Pelagia the year before and walked past the Renia many times, we thought that it looked very nice. Unfortunately not all is as it seems... Rooms are pretty average for Greece and reasonably sized but could do with a good clean. We were moved half way through our holiday to a smaller apartment which was also not very clean and I spent a good hour washing all the kitchen equipment and another cleaning the bathroom. Service is with a scowl. Wifi is very limited in range and breakfast pretty poor. If you have a room overlooking the pool you will be woken up by the early breakfast people if not before by the staff turning on the radio at full volume. If you don't have a pool room then you get a delightful view of unfinished buildings... The best thing about this place is the location.

“I was shocked :S”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2009

First time i booked a room at Renia was in July. When i arrived i was taken by the receptionist to another hotel - Joanna, he said that they are overbooked and rent rooms at Joanna. (Why do they say that they have free rooms and confirm the reservation if they don't have rooms? be careful on that!). Although we wanted to stay at Renia, we really liked Joanna and decided to come back again a month later. We booked a room through Renia and made a note that we would like to have the same room where we stayed. When we arrived this time, it turned up that they give us a room in Renia itself. The rooms are untidy, look poor and old. When we said that we would like to move to Joanna, the receptionist literally slaped the door infront of us and said - "Don't ever book rooms in renia then" and then said something rude in greek. Great service!
Now we are staying in Joanna and really happy that we finally got it.
I would never recommend Renia even to a foe.

“loved it - lovely people lots of repeat business”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 June 2009

just returned from 2 weeks, here. Manos, Michael and their families could not have been nicer. The apartment we had was super. The pool is great and simple but good brekafast inlcuded in price (as was aircon! and daily cleaning). wanted to chill out and did this very easily. Agia Pelagia is a simple tourist seaside place - the road in(and out) very twisty and not great public transport but nonetheless a nice simple place. All the local shopkeepers were wonderful. Our apartment had a simple oven or hob for our use and we were able to cook meals easily. Most people stayed about 4 days and many had been there mahy times before. Accommodation good and inexpensive. Would happily go back. Did go out on various day trips in the car - just watch the windy roads in Crete! and wifi!

“Very nice hotel and warm, friendly staff!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2008

Our room was on the 2 floor . The room was immaculate and well equiped with everthing you need- tv,air conditioning ,kitchen...The room was very clean! It appears that all rooms have balconies, and we were lucky and got a wonderful large balcony complete with table and chairs. Service is good and there is even a swimming pool in the garden. The place also offers WIFI and a bar is open all day.The hotel's restaurant is open from early a.m. for breakfast ( the food is fantastic and the service is excellent!), all day long and very late into the evening.
The hotel staff (Michael,Manos and Nina) were warm, welcoming and could not do enough for the guests! They were friendly and went out of their way to help you with anything concerning your stay. They made our stay a pleasure and offered many tips for excursions and activities.
We stayed here in end of October for 3 nights and the weather was hot and sunny, with plenty of people (including ourselves) on the beach & swimming in the very warm sea.
Agia Pelagia is 20 kilometers from Heraklion. Agia Pelagia is a very quiet place, and you can not even see Heraklion even if it is that close, but you have the possibility to go into the big, busy town if you need more action one day!
We would definitely stay here again, because we had a great stay here!
Actually everything was nearby in Agia Pelagia, and I recommend you to go there, and I can truly recommend Renia Apartments!
