To those who have not been here before, do not listen to the bad reviews. Agia Pelagia is VERY friendly, compact and beautiful. We have been 6 times now and intend to go back. We stayed at Michalis Studios each time which are very handy for the tavernas, bars and beach - no hill to climb! Not a fancy hotel but basic studio but we only sleep in it. There are many of these in the village without staying in the all-inclusive hotels which do nothing for the local economy. The thing we like least is the local bus service to the village into Heraklion. Very sparce and could do with a few more a day, especially later in the afternoon from Heraklion. The village is at the bottom of a very steep hill!

STEER CLEAR!!! HORRIBLE SERVICE AND BUGS!!!

This experience was awful for the following reasons.

1. Over-Priced. Breakfast not included, ant infested room, no transportation to or from port (we took at 35 Euro cab ride), bad location
2. Horrible, Unprofessional Service. The "hotel" is run by 1 woman, who is VERY snotty, unorganized and rude! When we were trying to check out, as were other guests, the reception was closed (as it was commonly throughout the day) so we left her a note telling her to charge our credit card. We recieved a NASTY e-mail from her a few hours later telling us how we should act as hotel guests in the futute- UNPROFESSIONAL!!
3. No Housekeeping. A housekeeper only comes once a week.
4. No Air Conditioning!
5. Owner has children who were up and running very loudly around the pool area before 9am, which woke us up.

Overall, awful experience...will never return even if it was free!
