We stumbled on Le Mas Perreal while looking for a base to see Luberon area - and how lucky we were!!!
From a winding road that leads to this self standing renovated old farm house (le mas in Provencal dialect, hence the name) in the middle of the vineyards to beautifully decorated very spacious room to the wonderful hosts Kevin and Elisabeth!
House and grounds around house are simply stunning (picures do not really give it a justice!). Elisabeth decorated everything in the French country style with antique furniture and loads of details, it looks wonderfully charming and authentic, that I was really surprised to find out she is not professional interior designer! One thing is for sure, if she wanted, she could be one!
Kevin and Elisabeth really thought of everything, providing the picnic baskets, little info booklets with recommended sites to visit and restaurants in area, a special community coffee and tea area, loads of books and travel guides… They personally make and serve a lovely breakfast (a mix American/ French with smoothies, croissants and eggs (or pancakes, depending on the day) on the patio or in a gorgeous dining area if the weather is not warm enough to eat outside.
We personally haven't used the pool (coming from Dubai, we found weather not to be warm enough), however the pool overlooks vineyards and the area is just wonderfully peaceful, perfect for reading a book or an afternoon nap.
In short, we really loved Le Mas Perreal and we can’t wait to come back!!
Two tips:
* Make sure you print out the map that Kevin emails you when you reserve a room, the area is very rural so there are no street names and numbers so GPS will not be very useful. However the map was excellent and we found Le Mas with no problems.
* We loved the restaurant Le Sanglier Paresseux in nearby village of Caseneuve. It is a good 20min drive, however well worth it! The food was simply glorious and ambiance wonderful as the terrace overlooks nearby valleys and the sunset. Very romantic! And an extremely good value for the quality of food served!
