we had our wedding reception at this hotel in 2004 and took fifty guests with us, everyone had a wonderful time. The bedrooms are all very different, split mainly between the two main buildings of the hotel. Some have four poster beds, some with jacuzzi baths, others are more simple but still charming. Some of the bedrooms are in converted outhouses, overlooking the park which are really sweet.
Madame at reception can appear a little fierce but if you make an effort to speak a few words of French she is a lovely lady and could not be more helpful.
The evening meal was wonderful and the buffet breakfast very substantial. The dining room is very imposing, you feel like you don't want to drop a spoon but actually the service is all very relaxed. In the main building there is a great bar, and a lovely stair case leading up to the bedrooms.
We went back again in July 07 with our baby and the atmosphere has not changed. They were very accomodating again, even when our baby was crawling all around the restaurant. This hotel does not have the generic standard of a UK boutique hotel but it has it's own slightly faded charm and only an hour and a quarter from the tunnel it is good for a weekend break.
