As regular commuters to Haute Savoie, we are always looking for a good overnight stay en route South. At last we have found one. Tucked away on the edge of Jura just above the market town of Poligny is the Hostellerie des Monts de Vaux, an old posting Inn, now a sophisticated Hotel. Rooms are very comfortable, warm and tastefully decorated with antique furniture and quality bed linen and mattresses with well equipped bathrooms. But dinner was the best surprise, despite the fact it was out of season, a dark day in January and very quiet, the meal was exquisite and the service was very courteous and thoughtful. The sauces are worth a special mention and everything was perfectly cooked and presented.
We were well looked after and waved on our way by the attentive landlord. Our only regret is that this level of quality has to be special treat!
