“Great Location but needs a refit”

We stayed here for a week in one of the apartments, these were adequate but a bit dated. You cannot really cook as there are two rings. Aircon worked well and the bathroom was clean with loads of towels and constant hot water.

The main problem was lack of sunbeds, people putting towels on early in the morning needs to be stopped. Pool was clean but a bit cold, there was a smell of sewage at the back of the pool which was constant. We had two meals in the restaurant wheich were a buffet style and were ok, salad bar was good.

If you want a cheap holiday then not a bad place to stay, be aware there are not many restaurants or bars in the village which is about 15 minute away.

Room Tip: Try and get an apartment at the front overooking the sea

“A room with a view!”

Just returned from the Hotel Bellevue. We stayed in the appartments which are well away from the main hotel and in blocks of four. We (and our friends) were lucky to have two second floor rooms with balconies overlooking the beach. The rooms were adequate but a little shabby. However, they were clean on arrival with a shower cubicle (usually lots of hot water) and plenty of clean linen. There was the minimum kitchen equipment but this didn't inconvenience us at all as we intended only having breakfast and the odd snack in our rooms. The rooms had a two ring hob, fridge and air conditioning. The maids and hotel staff were helpful and the whole sight was clean and tidy.

Although the walk into the small town was on the level and very attractive as the path ran along the beach, the nearest supermarket was quite a walk away and our favourite restaurant further on again. We enjoyed the strolls very much but it could be a little far for anyone with mobility problems.

We had excellent meals in the local restaurants, enjoying fresh fish and tender meat - and try the ice cream, it's wonderful (and I don't normally eat much ice cream!).

The locality is very beautiful and really clean. A day in Dubrovnik shouldn't be missed and also a ferry ride to the island of Korchula. We hired a car for a couple of days and were able to explore tiny villages and lovely, quiet beaches (mostly shingle) on the peninsular.

I would advise avoiding the high season as the beaches are small and could quickly become overcrowded, also space around the pool in the hotel is limited. As usual, towels are out early and even appear on the beach below the hotel!! Brits are in the minority - hardly heard any English the whole time we were away. The Croatians are charming people who do their best to ensure you have a good holidays.

We'll all certainly go back to Croatia and would be happy to go back to the Hotel Bellvue.

Room Tip: Request rooms facing the beach.

“great location, terrible hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2010

my husband and I had a sea view room which was very basic but great views, my mother in law had a single room which was more of a broom cupboard looking over the car park! the hotel is desperately in need of modernising lilac woodchip everywhere and the worst fake flower displays i have ever seen. The dining room and the food offered are the worst i have ever had anywhere in europe, the food is put out at the beginning of service and never refilled its a continental breakfast but no fruit or pastries on offer?? and dont do the 10 minute queueing for coffee, its awful, the dinner service is like a scrum and again the food is never refilled what was on offer was so terrible we ate out after a few days, we had several problems while we were there and trying to talk to the staff was impossible, not sure if they couldnt speak English or they were just rude
Orebic is lovely as is Korcula, everywhere that we ate even tiny coffeshops we had great food and service and there is a great bar just past the Grand hotel "beach bar bacva" where we seemed to end up every night as it was within staggering distance

“I would cut my wrists rather than stay here again!!!!!!!.”

This is the worst hotel in my 35 years of foriegn travel that I have come across.
If you are thinking of going here please, please don't do it. Please read my other revues and you will see that I do not expect 5 star luxury and gourmet food in a 3 star hotel and I do look for value for money in my holidays.
The Bellevue is not value for money nor is it a 3 star hotel, no stars is probably to generous an award. We took the all inclusive option, first mistake, the all inclusive bar which named " The Dungeon" had six bottles behind the bar Martini, Cherry brandy an orange concoction and three others which came from B&Q. A strange smelling lager was availiable and some post mix soft drinks all self service except the spirits which given out by three surly members of staff when they could be bothered to move.
You were allowed to drink these offerings beneath the dining room on tables with plastic coverings which were never cleaned so you stuck to them.
The so called appertif bar was off limits to anyone staying as an all inclusive guest and shut at 11 so you could not even buy a drink. I did'nt see the woman serving in there smile in the14 days we were sentanced to stay.
Any western european should not stay at the Bellevue it is set up purely for people from the former eastern block. The dining room was dirty and the staff unhelpful. If you wanted any food you had to get in early as the eastern hordes would go through like a swarm of locusts and dishes were not replenished on a regular basis. Vast amounts of food were taken but not eaten and even though they were useing the all inclusive option bags of food would be taken to the rooms. Coffee was only availiable from 7 to 10 at breakfast and again at 4 to 5 in the Dungeon none at lunch and none at dinner.
If you survived the stampede you could enjoy your coffee amongst the clients who had spent their day drinking themselves to oblivion maybe the only way to survive at the Bellevue.
I could go on and on but I hope you get the jist. Please do not even think about going here, if they gave me 2 weeks free I would give it back that is how bad it is.
Orebic is a really nice spot with easy access to Korcula but go self catering and enjoy the local bars and restaurants. In the end we ate and drank away from the Bellevue and only slept there

“Basic, clean with ideal location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2010

I stayed at the Bellevue apartments August 2010 with my husband and teenage son. The apartment was on the small side, old fashioned but clean. We had a nice large balcony which had a sea view. The apartment was adequate for our stay and the air conditioning was a bonus. The bed was a double, which is unusual and my son slept on a large sofa bed. The kitchen was very compact but had what we needed for our stay. It did not have a kettle but we always take our own. The bathroom needed a make over. The shower door was a bit tempremental but the hot water and power shower worked a treat. The grouting on the wall and floor tiles needed replacing. However, the maid came in every day and did a great job. We had as many clean towels as we wanted!

We did not eat in the hotel dinning room so can't comment. We heard mixed views from other guests. The pool was nice but too small for the volume of people staying there. It was used by all the people staying in the hotel as well as many apartments. Getting a sun bed was near impossible. Guests (English included) appeared to bag their sun bed and leave towels on for the duration of their stay. This meant you couldn't even get up early to get one. You had to be lucky and be around on the day someone was leaving. We are not ones to spend all day every day around the pool but missed the opportunity to enjoy a swim at the end of the day when we arrived back at the hotel. We did get friendly with an English lady and her son who happily shared her sunloungers with us! The hotel management should do something about this. We stayed in Bulgaria a few years back and the hotel manager used to come around at night and early morning to take any towels off sunbeds and throw them on the floor - this soon put an end to this bizzare obsession we all seem to have!

Location of Bellevue is brilliant. An ideal spot. You could walk along the seafront into Orebic where you could find a few shops, supermarket and restaurants. It is great that Orebic is unspoilt and has no "English pubs" . Croatia as a whole had an unspolit charm. The bakery in the centre was great for bread and cakes. Ice cream shops iare popular as puddings are not really big on the menu in most restaurants. From the centre you could catch ferry taxi over to Korcula. We did this several times during our stay. A must for all. From Korcula (which is like a mini Dubrovnik) you can catch ferry boats to sandy beaches and also the Cat to Split - once a day, early morning start but well worth it and much cheaper than the organised excursions. Restaurants in Korcula are pretty but you do pay a bit more.

Excursions are very expensive. The only tour we took was to Dubrovnik by hydrofoil. Dubrovinik is a MUST. What a fantastic place.

Beaches in Orebic were pebbly. Buy or take swim shoes as there are little sea urchin's on the rocks whih apparently sting. We bought shoes and had no problems. Many people mentioned this. Sandy beaches can be found at Lumbarda (by ferry taxi). The sea is fantastic.

Highly reccommend the Babilon Restaurant in Orebic. Fantastic fish/seafood and the best quality.

All in all a great holiday. Would go back to Croatia but would try another part. Other visitors reccommended Cavtat and Trojir.
