We had been booked into the Bellvue Hotel with Balkan Holidays but were informed of the change when we arrived Dubrovnik airport and reassured that it was an upgrade...I'm not sure about that, an upgrade would have been the Grande Orebic Hotel. The Bellvue had not yet opened, being the first week of the season. We were the only Brits at the hotel, if not the whole of Orebic! The hotel was full of French visitors. This in itself was not an issue, but we had planned to go on some excursions to Mostar and Dubrovnik.and it proved to be a challenge to persuade the excursion operator to allow us to go along. The in-house entertainment was directed at the French, although some of it was Croatian and suitable for all. The hotel itself was fine, a good 30 minutes walk to the town along a pleasant footpath along the water's edge, which did not have much to offer, at least at this time of year, in the way of restaurants. It was just as well that we were half board. The food was ok at the hotel, nothing special although plenty of choice and self service, but quite bland at times, not sure what the French made of it! We were interested to see how many different dishes they could think of with left over hard boiled eggs from breakfast. Wine was included with the evening meal. Local wine very good and so is the brandy. Staff were lovely, especially one particular receptionist who worked the afternoon/evening shift, most people from 50 and younger can speak English and many other languages. I didn't need to know more than the pleasantries in Croatian, but my schoolgirl French came in handy! The room was adequate and clean with the best views across to Korcula which were stunning, a visit a must. There was no free wi-fi available which I was pleased about although my husband was disappointed.
