“Paradise at the end of the earth!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Staying at La Cusinga is like stepping off of the world and into paradise. From the immaculately kept grounds, with flowering bushes, birds, hummingbirds and butterflies in their natural habitat, to the howling monkeys, to the cobblestone walkways, breezy scents of ylang ylang and smartly-appointed rooms, every moment of the visit is wrapped in loveliness. And just when you think it can't get any better, you meet the staff: warm, friendly, extremely helpful and very knowledgeable about the area, their country and their business. The food is scrumptious, served up in a restaurant that offers a panoramic ocean view. Need I go on? I didn't think so. :) Book now! You won't be disappointed!

“A Perfect Destination”

This was our second visit to La Cusinga and the first for our children, ages 10 and 6. We had a lovely spacious cabin with plenty of comforts. We as before were awed by the peace and beauty. The children (and the adults) loved both the beach and the wooded pool. The flora and fauna are spectacular! It was a particular pleasure to see the kids' faces hearing the howler monkeys for the first time! The food and service are wonderful! Cannot recommend highly enough.

“Pure pleasure”

We discovered La Cusinga on our first visit to Costa Rica half a dozen years ago, and ever since, it has been our definition of pure pleasure. We head straight there from the airport and don't budge until it's time to go home. For us, the place has many attractions: the beauty of the location overlooking a marine national park; the simple but elegant accommodations; the superb meals served in an open-air restaurant; the friendly, efficient staff; the black sands and warm waters of Playa Arca; the stunning yoga pavilion; and the abundant wildlife. Think toucans, aracaris, pizotes, capuchins, howler monkeys. Sustainability is not just a buzz word at La Cusinga. It is the heart of the whole operation. We couldn't recommend this Eco Lodge more highly.

Muchas Gracias for taking your time to write a review! We are happy to know that you had a great stay! We love what we do and we try to make sure you have a great stay with us, not so much as a guest but as part of your Cusinga Home. Our team is a family, and we love that we do it is easy to show it! But the best part of it is our fauna and flora, our relationship with them is one of respect that is why we can have a happy relationship… we are part of nature. We look forward to your next visit!

“Yoga retreat... a beautiful success!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

Pura Vida! Sustainable Eco Lodge, without feeling the need for air condition. I am the first one to say," I Need air condition and hot water consistently"! So when I say, going this time of year was perfect, I mean, no sweat!

I was in a group room, so I believe this was the cause for limited hot water. The yoga participants in the private rooms did not seem to have this problem. I would indeed go private next time. All of the rooms were beautiful, comfortable and clean!

The location was fabulous, the reason for being there! Mountainside overlooking the Pacific ocean. Nature is #1 at La Cusinga!! The gorgeous private beach was a 20min hike down the mountain. If you prefer you can take a taxi 5-10 min. to the beautiful local pubic beaches.

The service was wonderful. The staff were all so happy, friendly and helpful. Always an English speaking manager around to assist! The owner was gracious and modest. He has an incredible story of how La Cusinga came to be. Also, why it remains so exclusive:) It is a perfect model of how we can preserve our planet. The buffets were delicious and nutritious (Plenty of local fresh fruits) with plenty of vegan and raw alternatives for each meal.

The Yoga Center, well, IT IS PERFECT! Indescribable energy! I will down load some pics!

Room Tip: Private rooms are the way to go!

Pura Vida! a word that tell you a lot about our place! Yoga is a practice where one needs to be one with our self, but also with nature. and what better place than a hotel that has both Rainforest and Ocean. Thank you for your visit and we do look forward to your return. And we will look into how to have more hot water in the group rooms, we have already increased the capacity, but we will look into it again!

And please let others know about our place as a place to visit and also as a yoga place.

thank you!!!!
