Mahabaleshwar in it self is a nice place and to add to it is the location of the resort. Lavishly built in an area of 4 Acres, the resort is a good option to stay.
With Amenities like pool, jacuzzi, Kids play area, games like TT, Carrom. cricket pool, spa, in house restaurant, Movie screening and other activities you would hardly need to go out for anything. With All meals included, the resort is a good package.
I went there with my family and we rented 3 rooms. Forest Suite and 2 Valley view rooms.
The rooms were good and big and cleanliness was good. Bathrooms were small however very clean which might be a foremost criteria for many visitors. FOr us it was.
The beds were big and Bedsheets where clean, sofas were ok.
Though the forest suite (at the first floor) promised a forest view, all I could see was the parking.
Yes the Valley view rooms were good and offered an excellent view of the valley. However if your valley view room is at the ground floor your view might be obstructed by trees just in front of your room. The resort is full of greenery which really relaxes you a lot if you have come for a much awatied vaccation.
The service was excellent and the staff very polite and Unlike many hotel staffers who expect tips, the staff here didnt and if so it was never evident from their faces.
The Resort had there own schedule which started at 7:30 AM in the morning with Yoga, followed by breakfast from 8-10. Lunch was served from 1-3 followed a movie screening. Evening snacks were served from 4:30 to 5:30 I guess (we never acaully had it). In the evenings couple of more activties were planned. Housie and Puppet/magic show, followed by dinner from 8-10.
Another area where the hotel excels is the food. The food was delicious and not even a single day we got a chance to complain about anything be it breakfast or dinner. We never stayed for lunch. The menu had a variety of dishes starting from soup to desserts. Although you didnt had an option of ala carte but the buffet menu didnt give you much choices to complain. Everything was prepared well and served even better. Non vegetarians could be disappointed as the Hotel was purely Vegetarian.
After so much positives a few negatives a well.
Although the towels and hand towels provided were quite clean, some of the hand towels were torn and worn out. So were the foot mats. Torn and worn out.
The toiletries provided were cheap and minimal. They included a soap and a shampoo. Thats it!! The rooms was scarcely funished. With the type of tariffs you would pay you would have expected tea/coffe maker, iron, mineral water bottles etc etc..
The blankets provided were very very cheap. The ones you find in the 3 Tier compartment of railways and that too without covers. I would have expected quilts atleast.
In one of the rooms which we took, water dripped from the roof over the bed. When we complained, they sent a staff with towels to put over the bed which was funny as well as frustrating After a bit of shouting we could get our room replaced, which thankfully was much better.
The resort also had a pool for both kids and adults however the water was greenish. Although they had a purification system, still nobody would ave wanted to enter the pool. Given it was monsoons and the rains were incessant, I would give this one to the resort.
Another thing which was not good was that they charged extra money for kids for ages 3 to 10 years. I have been to a lot places and stayed at lot of hotels and ever where they allowed 2Adults + 1 kid (upto 8-10 years).
All in all it was a nice and pleasant stay.
