We stayed at Vila Goesa in Mid August. Being off season, we expected Goa to be peaceful and deserted. However, it being the festival weekend, it was pretty crowded.
We went without reservations, and required 3 rooms (we were a group of 5). They said rooms were available, but the first room they showed had water on the floor, and was smelling horribly musty. After some time we came back asking if they could clean it up (we didnt find any good hotels around Baga with direct beach access - something I really wanted). they said another room has become available as someone cancelled.
Turned out that the rooms were actually pretty decent. High ceilings, AC, balconies, and an over all old world victorian/portugese feel to each villa, these were pretty picturesque in general.
The service, however, was a whole other ball game. Probably because of the fact that they weren't expecting a crowd in this season, but it seemed like they only had one bell boy servicing all the rooms! Towels took half an hour to arrive. Blankets never arrived! The main door wouldnt locked, and it took the maintenance guy 1 hour to come and fix it.
But complaints aside, the rooms were very comfortable. The restaurant was deserted - most people had gone out to eat, of course. Good food, good service. The waiters also fixed us up with activas to travel around the next day.
The private beach access is the best part.. We went for a stroll on the beach after dinner, and walked to one of the all night cafes, and ended up eating and drinking even more!
Good place. Worth re-visiting.
