“Absoluteley the best and most fun!”

This was our favorite place on our Scotland Trip. I wish Steve and Julie would open up a B&B in every country we want to visit! They are genuinely nice and caring people, with a great sense of humor, and fantastic knowledge of the area. We were smart to have Julie cook for us one night, we were even able to try out her new recipe for homemade chocolate ice cream, which was delicious. As we talked about our tour at Tallisker and how it had been mentioned that Scotch goes well with chocolate, she decided to try that with her new recipe ~ which she did, as that was our "dessert" for breakfast! Even more delicious! We also ate at The Old School Restaurant which was very good. The rooms and the self catering unit are spotless and lovely, you can fall asleep and wake up to the soft sounds of sheep baaa-ing as they search for thier Moms or a special friend. The view is just the best, as everyone says. I'm not sure I would ever get tired of it, I would love to see it in all diferent types of weather. If we make it back to Isle of Skye we would definitely stay here again. Oh yes, there are some jewelry shops in the area with really nice silver jewelry!

“Our favourite place to stay on Skye”

Not long back from our second stay at Carters Rest and just felt we has to let everyone know about this outstanding place to stay.
Don't know really where to start but the first time we stayed was an overnight in the master bedroom and it's stunning, we certainly didn't expect such a great room for the price. The hosts Steve and Julie are hospitality personalised, getting it just right with service which made you feel like old lost friends but still gave you your privacy- a lovely couple who are a credit to the area.
About the only thing that comes close to that is the location and food. The location is perfect with amazing views down the loch and that includes the view from the table that is the best in the house- we actually felt privileged to dine.with that view. Which beings us nicely to the food - we sampled Julie's cooking is out of this world and well worth the trip on its own. I had the chicken and my wife had the steak which were both cooked to perfection (my wife is very particular about her steak!)
The room we stayed in was spotless and well proportioned will all the amenities you'ld expect from a large hotel including laptop and wifi which was included in the price and essential for planning your stay.

Room Tip: We've stayed at both the self catering and the B&B and both are excellent.

Our first day and night on the Isla of Skye - stayed two nights while touring the Isle. This is a one of a kind lodging experience - the owners/managers are terrific, knowledgable and pleasant. The breakfasts were great and we could have had dinner as well, but wanted to cover the Isle as much as possible. Lovely walks just outside the gate and one shares the road with cattle and sheep - breathtaking vistas. Strongly recommend - gives one the feeling of why come to the Isle of Skye!

Room Tip: All are great!

“The place to stay in Skye”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

The best place to stay in Skye to enjoy a remote part of the island with wonderful hospitality. Steve and Julie are welcoming hosts who provide an extremely modern, comfortable B&B and excellent food. I agree with the content of previous positive reviews as this was the service that was also provided for us and would definitely recommend Carter's Rest as somewhere not to miss if considering staying in Skye.

“Wonderful hospitality in a lovely location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

After a drive to what felt like the ends of the earth (and is, I suppose, as it's almost as far west as you can get in Scotland without swimming!) we arrived to a warm welcome from Steve and Julie. The house is lovely with a great selection of DVDs, books, and games, a pool table, and of course the room itself was also lovely with a comfy bed (a tiny bit too soft for my taste but She liked it!), TV/DVD combo and laptop. The food was very nice indeed, as was the selection of drinks available. Only problem was the weather - we ordered sunshine but it was blowing a hoolie! Having said that, the wood fired stove in the sitting room kept us nice and warm :)
