Stayed for one night for a short break an couldn't of asked for better. Roger and Maureen has thought of everything from providing toiletries incase guests had forgotton anything to chocolates in the room on arrival. All the lttle touches made all the difference to our stay and the cooked breakfast was the best we've ever had! Highly recommended! Thankyou. Sian and Jeremy.

“A real *gem*”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

My husband and I wanted a relaxing retreat, not too far from our home (Belton, Loughborough), where we could go for walks - check; visit some attractions - check; have good food - check (this does not do Roger's creations justice actually, the food was marvelous) and be very well looked after and all for a very reasonable price - check and check.
Nothing was too much trouble. We were made to feel very special and welcome from the moment we arrived to the "welcome Amanda and Gavin" board that met us as we pulled up, the rose petals on the bed, the nibbles presented to us as we cosied up in front of the log burner to watch a movie.
We will definatley be returning to this little gem. Thanks Roger and Maureen for a most memoral few days.

“A real home from home!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

The warmest of welcomes with a cosy cup of tea and some cake greeted us and the home comforts just kept on coming. The little touches in the bedroom for our anniversary were heart warming. The luxury items provided were well thought out and we didn't feel like there was anything else that we needed, also the mini bar was pleasantly low priced. Breakfast was beautifully cooked and we were impressed with the vegetarian selection, which is hard to come by. We dined in on the 1st night of our stay and were blown away by the quality and portions as well as overall value for money. We wished we had opted to eat there both nights.
Roger & Maureen were extremely welcoming and every single want or need had been thought of, we will definately return soon as we are missing it already!

“January 2012 stay at The Cables”

We spent a weekend at the B&B and it exceeded all expectations, even after reading other excellent reviews. The room was very big and extremely clean and tidy, and the location is excellent, between Matlock and Matlock Bath, with a view of a tor and the river Derwent. But it was the little touches of service that were most impressive - Roger's willingness to collect us from the station even though it would not have been far to walk at all, the unexpected range of breakfast options (even for us vegetarians!), and his fetching of a newspaper for us in the morning before breakfast. Also lots of home-made food - from the cake provided on arrival to the jams and sauces offered at breakfast. Would recommend this B&B incredibly highly to all.

Room Tip: We stayed in the largest room (four-poster) and this had en suite facilities as well as being locate...
