Rooms are overpriced for the service you get. It is cold inside and it is only the beginning of October. It is 13:30 and the room hasn't been cleaned yet.
The personnel was not helpful with the temperature of the heater and in finding a restaurant for dinner.
The hotel is basically in the middle of nowhere and it cost me 120e to reach it by taxi from Amsterdam airport. I was here 3 days for a professional seminar but otherwise I would have left after the first night.
Older decor and smallish rooms. Nice bar, good restaurant. The price is reasonable. I will be back.
Stayed here for 6 nights during the recent snow and ice storm. My companion was down with pnuemonia, so we stayed put for warmth. This hotel is basic. The room we reserved on line was under rehab. I asked for a room with a sitting area. The last room on the top floor, furthest from the lobby, dining room, bar etc. was what I got. It was quiet and warm. There should be reserved parking area for hotel guests, spaces are at a premium most of the day and night. The bar is closed on weekends??? Dining is the same menu everyday, no specials, no variety of vegetables.etc. Breakfast is the same thing everyday, as well. They need to learn how to cook bacon, crispy, not fatty. Ech!!! This was my second stay here, and it is not what it used to be. The staff is rude at the reception, and too many shift changes in the dining room, during rush hour cause poor service and errors. Van de Valk needs to upgrade all their hotels, especilly the menus and add variety for long term guests. This place maybe okay for 1 night travelers, I don't think I will return for a third time. It used to be very good. Too Bad!!
Take it from a dutchie this hotel is well overpriced for a presumably 4* hotel. No air or minibar in the rooms, crap food that they deliver nearly cold in your room (after i had to order it at the restaurant itself; no menu in the room) young and incompetent staff and that all at a whopping 100 euros a night. Location is on a highwat so no things to do in the immediate surroundings. Stay here only if you have to, waste of money.
