In June 2010 we visited here for the first time and promised we would return, This we did at the end of June 2011 but not for one week - for two weeks. This is not a state of the art, modern, marble and glass residence - it's charm lies in its quaintness of style. Anyway, how much time does one spend in a hotel when based in such a superb location with buses and boats to hand. Access to all parts of the lake provide countless opportunities for enjoying this lovely part of the world. Family run with good standards of cleanliness and a warm friendly atmosphere it provides a welcoming space in which to enjoy the surroundings. I guess different people want different things from a hotel but this one suits us - an older couple who don't want to be out clubbing every night . If you want a treat go on the Bernina Mountain Express trip into Switzerland! Ask for room 6 - it's the room with the view! straight across the lake towards Bellagio and there is nothing nicer than sitting on the balcony in the evening with a cool drink watching the world go by. Try it- you will be pleasantly surprised.

Booked this hotel as I saw some decent reviews on tripadvisor, but couldn't have been more disappointed. From windows not working, hallways to no working lights and a room that was so loud it sounded like you were on the road. The decor of the room was that of a college dorm room with mismatched furniture and a bed that may as well been a futon. I would go as far to say not only avoid this hotel, but stay at a different part of the lake all together. Cadennebia looks nice from a boat, but not so much when you are there.

There's no reason to travel to beautiful Lake Como and stay at a place like this average. It's not an unclean place but the decor is ugly, dingy, mismatched and outdated. It's more of a one star hotel than a 3 star. The place needs some serious redecorating.
The view is nice. It's very close to the ferry.
BUT
It's noisy and right on top of the main drag.
We used the free internet to search for and book a better hotel about 10 minutes after we checked into Hotel Riviera.
The owner did offer to find us a more quiet hotel, but we declined, paid the bill and went to a lovely villa down the lake.

We did not stay at the hotel but, on a recommendation, ate one restaurant meal on the terrace across the road from the hotel. It was a midweek evening and it was clear that the staff could not cope with the number of customers. We waited 30 minutes for our drink to arrive and another 30 for the meal. In the end we only received half of our order with the salads and wine never materialising. Other customers were gathering their own cutlery and glasses and whenever the harrassed waiter appeared he was bombarded with requests. The pizza was OK, nothing more, there are far better ones to be had nearby, and we did not risk ordering a dessert as we might still be there waiting for it to arrive.
