“Lots of negatives”

10 things you need to know:

1. 15 minute walk to nearest pebbly beach (hire car needed).

2. Staff not friendly.

3. hidden extras - fines for extra electricals, extra for air conditioning, kettle. No TV.

4. Swimming pool freezing even when hot weather.

5. Definately not animal lovers - poor bugerigar locked up in small cage not able to fly.

6. Bathroom 'smells'.

7. No decent restaurants/supermarkets near by.

8. No wifi.

9. Nice balcony/communal areas for a 3* hotel.

10. Not allowed to bring food/drinks from outside hotel to communal areas.

Room Tip: Most rooms face swimming pool.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

We was pleasantly surprised when we got to summerland, it was everything we wanted friendly staff from cleaner's to management, beautiful gardens and a pool to die for made us feel special from day 1 to the final day. If you want peace and quiet can't fault it going to book it for next year see you soon xx

Room Tip: Pool side or view side seen them both we prefer view side.

“Nice complex”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2011

Just spent a week at summerlands in a one bed app.Lovely complex, cant say the same of the room!Very clean overall but towels very worn, bed settee covers very stained, bed very comfey.Dont know how you are suposed to cook anything as only two electric rings,no kettl e,toaster only a couple of pans. All the staff were very helpful, the pool was great. Dont go if you dont like walking, its a ten minute walk down a dark lane at night, you will need a good torch and the will to live-stand well back-the take no prisoners!! Main road like M1,turn right for Ixia, left for Trianda, lot more night there, food very good.Found it very noisy at night, lots of local dogs barking! Overall for the price you pay its not too bad.If you book the island tour make sure you check what your getting,we paid 44 euroes each,it said lunch included-it wasnt and the trip wasnt what it said-so check!! Rhodes Old town well worth a visit.

“It's not so bad and is clean”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

It's ok, seen a lot of mixed reviews on this site so we were very apprehensive when got there. Rooms are very basic to be fair but they are clean!. Was a cheap holiday for 2 weeks and was value for what we paid. Maid's were good and room cleaned daily and towels changed frequently. We had room at front (opposite bungalows). Small balcony but had sun all day on it, which was fab. My niece & her husband had a bigger room and bigger balcony. Bathroom were poor in both rooms, must confess they could spend a bit of money & put in proper cubicle. When showering it doesn't drain properly & water goes everywhere. It was again, clean, though. Table & chairs in there are just garden furniture, that's a bit poor. Air conditioning is a rip off at 7 euros a night. But on the plus side, staff were friendly and the pool was clean and good size and pleasant to sit round. Gardens and surrounding area is well maintained. Pool bar was very much a left down though, very limit choice of food and not open to variation. Price wise average. Leo, who works the pool bar, was a happy chappy. It is a walking holiday (unless you hire a car) to get anywhere, 20 minute walk to the town & beach. Wasn't impressed by beach and wouldn't have wanted to spend a day there. Not a sandy beach. We eat where the Greeks eat at night and found some fantastic little tavernas. Filerimos Taverna became our favorite. Lovely friendly staff and good prices, great food. There is another small taverna back down the road from this one, lady doesn't speak so much English but food it great. Is on the road side. We found a nice route by turning right, directly when coming out of hotel. Much more pleasant than walking down the main road. The best supermarket, turn left out of hotel then left again at top of road, then walk down the road to bottom. Turn right and supermarket just there, next to jewellers (owned by same lady & hotel at end of road there). Gynnis the lady who owns them is a very friendly lady. You must go to Rhodes City, it is amazing and especially at night, it comes a live. Fantastic place, with all its cobbled back streets that wind and twist. A real maze of a place, fabulous. Some really lovely restaurants there too. Buses cheap to get there. Taxis unfortunately were on strike the whole 2 weeks we were there, so that was very disappointing as had to make sure didn't miss the last bus back. We hired a car for 3 days and Lindos is a must to visit!!

“Great value family run place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2011

We stayed for a week in August 2011. The hotel is a nice place to be, with a good pool and very friendly staff. Both the barman and the receptionist knew us by sight within a day and we always had our room key offered without needing to remind he rof the number. Rooms are basic but clean and have everything you need (once you pay the A/C charge), and we spent most of our time in the hotel either on the balcony or by the pool anyway.

The hotel is down a back road away from the main strip and falls between two resorts, so it's pretty quiet and peaceful. There's a decent supermarket and taverna within 5-10 minutes walk and bigger shops only 20 mins walk away. It's not ideal for nightlife, but really helped both of us relax. Rhodes town is 20 mins on the bus.

It's not the height of luxury, or a place with a banging nightlife, but it's a friendly, relaxing and great value place to stay.
