We arrived in the evening and Mari was there to greet us. We walked from the commercial port and with the Rough Guide Old Town map in hand, were able to find the Pink Elephant without any problems.
The room was on the ground level in the court yard. It was small but just as we had expected; full of character, clean and comfortable. It was well over 30C during the day and as you'd expect, rooms with no air conditioning are going to get a bit stuffy. To counter this, the room was equipped with a large stand mounted fan with sleep control. The windows also have mosquito netting in place so we were able to leave those open as well.
We had a private bathroom that was located just across the court yard. There was plenty of hot water and like the room, it was cleaned everyday.
The WiFi signal was strong and we were able to have a couple of Skype calls without any glitches. There's also a communal fridge which very thoughtfully Mari keeps stocked with some soft drinks which you can purchase on a honesty basis.
We also had the breakfast which we both enjoyed. This was served on the lower of the two terraces. The upper terrace has comfortable chairs where it's nice to kick back for a while in the early evening.
