Reviewing a hotel during off-season sometimes doesn't do justice as not all services are available and empty hotels often look spooky. But Manousos was on an another level.
We arrived early evening to find the receptionist having a coffee and cigarette break with her friend in the lobby. We had booked the room with dinner and breakfast included and a short while later we came down to have dinner. The dining hall was dark and empty with not a waiter around, a disappointment as we were told on booking that it was a buffet. Soon later a waiter strolled in and took us to an uncleaned table with bread crumbs on it. We ordered our food, and waited a while until we saw a cockroach on the floor. After that it was easy - we stood up, checked out and left. Explaining to the receptionist was pointless as she just stared us suspiciously and didn't even offer a word of apology.
The room was clean and decent so it was a shame how bad service has ruined it all. This might not be a problem during the busy summer season.
Manousos used to be a well-established hotel in the past but clearly has lost its touch.
