“Run-down hotel clinging to its old glory”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Reviewing a hotel during off-season sometimes doesn't do justice as not all services are available and empty hotels often look spooky. But Manousos was on an another level.

We arrived early evening to find the receptionist having a coffee and cigarette break with her friend in the lobby. We had booked the room with dinner and breakfast included and a short while later we came down to have dinner. The dining hall was dark and empty with not a waiter around, a disappointment as we were told on booking that it was a buffet. Soon later a waiter strolled in and took us to an uncleaned table with bread crumbs on it. We ordered our food, and waited a while until we saw a cockroach on the floor. After that it was easy - we stood up, checked out and left. Explaining to the receptionist was pointless as she just stared us suspiciously and didn't even offer a word of apology.

The room was clean and decent so it was a shame how bad service has ruined it all. This might not be a problem during the busy summer season.

Manousos used to be a well-established hotel in the past but clearly has lost its touch.

“AUTUMN BREAK”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

just wanted to give some brief feedback following our stay at this hotel.
We had never visited Rhodes before and therefore had no set ideas regarding a hotel other than wanting a good value hotel close to Rhodes town.
We arrived mid afternoon and was shown to a very pleasant room on the corner of the top floor. There was the seaview which we had requested.
Despite some worrying reviews which stated that disco/nightclub noise levels during the night were intolerable we did not find that this was the case as our week was 3rd week in Oct and all the nightclubs had closed for the winter season. Indeed the area was generally quiet but still enough bars and restaurants open to give a good choice in the evenings.
The hotel is a pleasant walk from the old town which offered a full range of shops and sight seeing.
During our weeks' stay we found the breakfast to be very good with some variation to the main dishes each day
We hired a scooter for 5 days which was great fun and allowed really easy access/parking to both towns and villages and short explorations to more remote beaches/areas etc.
The one omission in the room were tea and coffee making facilities which we had come to expect as standard in most hotels but were not available ( but had not in fairness been listed on the room facilities).
Our stay last Oct was very enjoyable and have just booked again for the same time this October - cant say if the same would have been experinced in the height of the season and heat of summer when we felt that the area would have been very intensley and even over populated looking at the massive development of holiday accommodation in the area.
Altogether a very enjoyable holiday at that time of year!!

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel when we arrived in Rhodes. This hotel has a very nice swimming pool and we could have fun swimming there.Of course the sea is also very near and we could go there for swimming.Rooms are very clean, nice and some. We could see the sea view from the room.

“Pleasantly surprised! :-)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

Well, we had read all the awful reviews but we got a great deal with our Travel Agency and to be honest we very curious to see how bad this hotel really was. Wow! What a nice surprise! The room was spacious with lots of cupboard space, lovely bathroom and very happy with our terrace overlooking the street below (not the party street). Breakfast was included and although not the most delicious breakfast buffet I've ever eaten, it was more than an adequate start to the day. You could go healthy with yoghurt, bread and cheese or try the greasy egg, chips and mushroom stew option. Most of the staff were friendly including the lovely night receptionist Vasilis. He treated the scratches I got from feeding an overly hungry and excited street cat. He also gave us great tips about getting away from the typically tourist areas so we could experience real Greek food and culture. There was one member of staff at the hotel who never smiled. The irony of the fact that he was in charge of Happy Hour at the bar in the evenings, made us smile a great deal. :-) The location of this hotel is perfect for the beach, restaurants, shopping and only a 15-20 minutes leisurely walk to the Old Town. The Old Town was wonderful. We also hired a car for the day and visited Butterfly Valley and Lindos, where we climbed up to the Acropolis - simply amazing. We were sad to leave after our short week and look forward to returning to Rhodes and the Hotel Manousos!! By the way, if you are approached by touts, in the old or new town

with scratch cards promising free gifts in return for a sales presentation regarding a holiday club (Timeshare), then walk away. Wish someone had warned us about this. :-( Anita and Michael, English couple living in Stavanger.

“Stay away from this hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2011

The hotel is located exactly behind from the night clubs' street and it's impossible to sleep because of the loud music.

We have booked to stay 3 nights bbut we left the hotel after the first night. It was impossible to stand in the room so we moved in the middle of the night in the beach and we slept in the sunbed!

Stay away!!!
