“Take mosquito repellent!!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2012

Arrived sun palace hotel after filling out form got the key to our room. Were pleased with the room, double family room with cot space.Wet floor when arrived and also patio doors left open by maids. Not even the mosquito net pulled across.Just wide open! Had an early night the day we arrived and put our 1 yr old in his cot in the dark whilst myself my partner and 2 girls waited for him to fall to sleep n the balcony. To our horror he were screaming for 5 minutes solid which is very out of charater so checked on him to find 3 mosquitoes on his face.We switched all lighrs on to find loads of them.Im talking 30 mosquitoes plus.We spent the next hour chasing them around our room to ensure all were dead before we all went to sleep. It looked like them were a masacre murder in there once we were finished.Blood splattered all up walls in the room which we had to look at for the next 2 weeks. We were bit every night around the entertainment area as my partner had triusers on and got bit all over his feet and i wore a dress most nights and had bites all over my legs. Also if your a young lady and like to dress up quite glamourously at night this hotel isnt for you, nobody dresses up for the evening and many go down dressed in what they wore through the day around the pool!!
Soft drinks horrid!!! The only soft drink we drank were lemon and lime that were like sprite. The rest were very watered down or fizz lasted 2 mins.
Entertainment team all worked very well..day off on a saturday night which were a bit disappointing as entertainment on Saturday night were Greek music,in the 2 wks we stayed there they probably had a couple of tables that sat and watched but most ventured out or sat in the cocktail bar which was very nice :)....Pina coladas to die for! Had a couple of live acts whilst we were there which were like a beatles tribute which were very good....bingo night every night (apart from saturdays) so dont forget your 5 euros!!
The only fault with the indoor cocktail bar was the service. It is table service only and often we were sat without a drink waiting for service or if had a late dinner it were hard to get a table.
The a la carte resturaunt is held over near the waterpark which was very nice! Food and treatment first class and cannot fault atall, plenty of variety,we had lamb with caramelised onions and were beautiful!
Waterpark was very good! Had 3 thunderstorms in our stay (9th may-23rd may) in which we were stranded at the waterpark in the extreme weather conditions. All lifeguards and staff at the waterpark were very good and helped loads through this horrendous time. Food at the waterpark were to die for and totally made our holiday as snacks at the main hotel consisted of sausage/chips and something that looked like fish fingers.Food at waterpark were gorgeous...pizzas made freshly with variuos toppings...pasta..chicken kebab bits....bolognaise sauce..freshly made baguette type rolls, fresh salad, brocolli, pitta bread etc...Luckily we booked with first choice and had access to the waterpark.I would have been gutted if i hadnt as the food made it asll worthwhile! There were 2 high slides for the kid in you!! then there 2 slides for young kids or adults if u liked(blue and white) then there were 3 slides for adults or ppl over 14.Although if you want your children to go on slides they dont recommend then you will need to talk with the lifeguard in charge of that slide and with parents permission kids were able to go on the slides.
My partner had food poisoning, and he was very ill for over 48 hours and once told the first choice rep she said there is a sickness bug going around the hotel at the moment but that were no bug! He were green for 2 days and he never usually gets ill that were 3 days after we got there. In the second week my 2 girls had a sickness bug and once spewed up the veal or kiddy cocktail were completely fine (travel rep also said it were a hotel bug)!
The other big issue we had and we read reviews on this before our trip was that the walls are very thin and can hear everything!! sooo true!! Wake you all up early hours in the morning...shouting and screaming down corridoors and many of these being couples. The next room sneeze and you can hear it!! The walls and door need sound proofing so if you want and decent night sleep the sun palace hotel definately isnt for you""
All in all we made our hotel very enjoyable.
Would we return.....erm....maybe in few years time when children have grew up.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view biut not too close to entertainment if you want sleep beofre midnight!

“Second Time in this Wonder Hotel.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2012

Arrived at hotel at 11 o clock at night very tired and was greeted with a lovely lady on reception and the head waiter who straight away remembered us. Check in was fast and we were then taken through to the bar where they made us some lovely rolls. Went down a treat with a nice cold vodka. Off to our rooms which were what we asked for, top floor and two rooms next to each other one for my sister and the other for hubby and I. The rooms were spotless and clean sheets every other day. Had to get light bulb fixed in bathroom and george fixed it straight away. The food was good we had chinese, mexican, greek.and bar be cues. We went out most days to see the sites, Lindos has some pretty shops and a nice beach. Had a nice meal on the beach then got the boat home which cost us ten euros ror a three hour trip which we all enjoyed very much. The bus back is only 4.40euros which is better than going on a trip which will cost about 25 and you wiil be rushed and not see every thing. We even see a turtle swimming on our way back.Rhodos old town is worth a visit and also Kallithea springs which you can get to on the train for 7 euros and stay for about two hours which is not long enough if you want to swim in the spings. We did it the first time then made our own way down on the bus cost 1.80 each way and we made a day of it ,got some sun loungers and went swimming also watched the divers .Such a pretty place to see and lunch was quite cheap.Had a lovely time. The waterpark is now open so lots of children but you dont see them all day as over the park. We are three pensioners and one day went to see if we could have a look around the park so to let friends and family know what to expect but were refused because we booked with Thomas Cook . How stupid is that surely they could see three old penioners were not fit enough to climb slides. Went to the beach a few times as weather was so hot and its about 8 mins walk not to bad and worth a trip. One day we had been for a swim when a thunder storm started we couldnot make it back to hotel so sheltered in the supermarket half way back and the road was flooded in no time. We ended up staying in the shop for one and a half hours as could not even see the pavement. The greek people have never seen a storm this bad and the man who owns the shop was taken pictures of it he was like a little child but they were the nicest people you would wish to meet, As the storm was coming to the end he got out his car and took us back to our hotel. which we thought was such a lovely thing to do. About one hour later no sign of a storm at all. Well thats all i can say , wonderful holiday, good food and such lovely staff and greek people . Credit to you all for making our holiday so nice. All ready looking into going back next year cant wait.

Room Tip: Top floor over looking pool.

“12th May to 19th May”

Travelled with a small family in May 2012, always go to large holiday villiages so was little shocked at the size of it. Arrived in the night to the porter shouting at a lady No! you cant move rooms!! So was little unimpressed with that to start. But all in all this was a lovely hotel, staff, food and service excellent. Only down fall was the entertainment team, very poor and same old same old. No effort made with smaller families and many other familes commented on this, they looked like they were put there to entertain large familes so us small ones werent even spoken to. Will return ? No !

Room Tip: For 3 or more people, request and pay for the family room.

“great holiday/great place”

I will start with the negatives 1.toaster is rubbish, please replace,2.soft drinks are below par but not really a problem to us,and thats that out the way.on arrival we were greeted by a very pleasant ,polite young lady on reception and was soon on our way to the room,we did arrive late although no one seemed to wait long even at busy times, large spacious reception and very clean throughout.our room 259 was lovely and bright and spotless with loads of room nice bathroom to,they were cleaned each day plus linen changed during the week.the restaurant was really big and plenty of choice and chef cooking fresh pasta etc each evening, beer and wine was good we thought and all the local spirits were fine all staff very pleasant and polite, sometimes they did run out of glasses/coffee cups when it was busy but they were soon replaced also the same with some of the food but at least its always coming out fresh and tasty.the animation team, sean chris jody laura and the funny dj who s name i have forgot were brilliant they worked tirelessly with the usual day activities, nightime entertainment very good with some live acts aswell, the team make you feel so welcome and always find time to chat,i hope they get to read as they deserve to know what a great job they do and the hotel management should be proud of them.the pools are lovely with the toddler one covered by a canopy keeping them shaded from direct sunlight everywhere well maintained by George.take a trip to rhodes town 2 20euro on bus each way across road, old town behind the wall is amazing not to be missed, also a trip to lindos a must to 4 40 each way on bus about 50 min travelling its so nice there, you must go up to the acropylis by taxi (donkey) great fun views from the top spectacular a really good day out.only a ten minute walk to main streets in faliraki not too busy yet but june onwards will be manic i expect but some nice family bars.all in all a fantastic holiday i we can see why this place is rated so highly, dont listen to the moaners if u can find any, there is an issue with the new water park as anyone who as booked through thomas cook are not able to use it we were told about this although im to old for all that anyway, you can also use the a la carte restaurant once across the waterpark side just book with restaurant manager for that, its very nice for a change with proper pepsi| so all in all a great hotel which made for a great holiday and we will go back very soon.well done and thankyou to all at the sun palace

Room Tip: room 259 overlooking pool, lovely at night with changing colours in the water, sit and enjoy with a be...
