“Brilliant Hotel”

Just spent half term at this hotel with my little girl. Fabulous time, lovely beach and hotel pool. Food gorgeous and varied. Staff really can't do enough for you. everyone from the pool guy to the chamber maids and the head waiter, just absolutely lovely. Very clean too. All drinks and all food, snacks and ice creams all available, all inclusive, all the time. Only grumble is that the beds were very, very hard. Would go again, though!

“Brilliant Hotel. Excellent Value”

I have just returned from a week at this hotel with a friend. We went to totally relax for a week. We were there the last week of the season and a lot of the shops etc nearby had close already. As the week progressed we could see more and more areas of the hotel preparing for the winter shut down. However we still had a fantastic week, the staff were very friendly, the Hotel and rooms were spotless. There was always a good choice of food which was well cooked.
The british are in a minority in this hotel.
During the day there was plenty of sporting activities if you wanted to join in, we prefered to stay on the beach. The evening entertainment was limited but I put this down to it being the end of the season.
We are considering booking again next year.
My only critisms would be that the beds are very hard and the towels too smal.

Room Tip: Ask for a Sea View, we didnt and had a few of road which could be noisy

“Awesome Holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

I will cut to the chase very quickly - this was probably one of the best weeks holidays i've had. Resort is close enough to walk into Faliraki (15-20 mins) and to the water park (10 mins) but another 10 mins up the hill at the park - be aware.
Hotel superb - staff friendly and couteous - food -top drawer - branded drinks free upto 2am. facilities for all - a baby pool for the little un's (Not needed by us) but looked great. Main Pool gets busy because of the slide (Which was great - even for 50 year olds like me). Yiou expect that from a family hotel. Had room on 1st floor overlooking Pool and beach with wonderful sea view - breathtaking views.
Our two teenagers were in the Clubs every night and thought it was a great mix of people and not a Brit Invasion like it was a few years ago.

All in all wonderful for the five of us - even our 14 year old "Kevin" had a good time - table tennis - Internet - Golf etc . Plus a great mix of nationalities. Only 10% British - which to be honest - was good for us all. Germans are a little rude - but hey it all ads to the entertainment value.

if i had a gripe it was the lifts... only three of them and just not quick enough. But if thats all i can moan about then there you go.

Great Holiday - Am already looking to go back in October for a week just with the other half.

“Perfect!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2011

Me and my family(2+ kids aged 5.5, 11) just got back from a fantastic week at the Calypso.
If you want to get straight to the bottom line – the hotel is one of the best, this week was like a dream, everything was just perfect. The best value for money you can get. Go there and have one of the best vacations ever.
My review may be a little long and detailed, but like was looking for every piece of information before I booked there, I'm sure someone else will find it helpful as I did.

HOTEL – the hotel is simply beautiful. Everything is within reach : the pools, the beach, the bars etc. The garden and trees make a relaxing and calming atmosphere.

LOCATION – Very comfortable. There is a bus station to Lindos and Rhode town right in front of the hotel, you can find the time table near the elevators in front of the reception. A taxi to and from the airport is about 30 EU. (less then 20 minutes ride) . The sea shuttle to Rhodes town, Faliraki and Lindos also stops right at the hotel's beach couple of times a day (the time table is advertised at the beach) . There are also one day trips to Lindos from the same "station" and one hour trip in a glass bottom boat. Didn't use any of them.

AROUND THE HOTEL – Although we hardly left the hotel, we took a walk one evening at the promenade, there are little shops and supermarkets there.

HOTEL SHOP – The shop has everything you need with the lowest prices around! I bought all the souvenirs there since it was cheaper than the prices in Rhodes market….

KIDS POOL – Great! We had a surprise to find the little octopus slides and little boats my kids could use. Plenty of sunbeds and parasols all over the place, need not to worry about "sunbeds reservations in advance" like some of the guests did, because at any time you will find a free one to sit on.

MAIN POOL – Fabulous. The water slide was a real fun for all of us. The pool with it’s water fall and little bridges was lovely and beautiful. Plenty of space and sunbeds available at any time of the day.

BEACH – Fantastic beach! Clean and quiet. The water is warm and crystal clear, the sea is calm. The view of the bay was relaxing. And the best part is that is right behind the pool bar within 1 minute walk.

ROOM – very spacious, clean with daily change of towels and room make up. The room is divided to parents and kids sections. (kids slept in one bed which was actually a couch that turned into a bed). Plenty of room in the closet. We took a sea view room which was worth the extra money (although you don't sit all day long in the porch looking at the sea….)

ALL INCLUSIVE – Unlike other places where they charge you for extras (like non local alcoholic drinks, sport facilities, special nights and so on)

DINING – Well, this is the case where quantity doesn't count as much as the quality (like we say here). There wasn't large variety of dishes BUT everything was DELICIOUS,
FRESH, TASTY and everyone found something he liked. They served Traditional Greek food along with dishes you all know from home. I guess this is why the hotel is graded as 4* hotel and not 5*. Our family is considered to be a little picky with food, and even we were very satisfied with it. Everything made by the hotel's kitchen itself, even the cookies.

POOL BAR – we're not much of drinkers, don't use to drink alcohol except for a cocktail here or there….but I can tell that the people who did drink were pleased to find known brands and labels of non local alcoholic drinks with no extra charge. Even the soft drinks are branded like Fanta and Pepsi-Cola (and not a "Panda cola" or other cheap imitations we saw in other hotels before).

SNACK BAR – open all day long, from 10 am to 11 pm. You can have ice cream, cookies, snacks, fruits, hot and cold drinks (we really miss the Ice coffee!) whenever you like. Unlike some others clubs which serves the snacks only once a day for an impossible limited time (cookies from 16:00 to 17:00, ice cream from 13:30 to 14:00 and so on) here you can really enjoy the all inclusive system.
They also have Theme Nights – Sea food evening, Italian Food evening, BBQ evening, Greek food evening.

ENTERTAINMENT – One of the best I've seen. A live show every night, by the hotel team or local artist such as a Greek band and dancers. The hotel team raised a cabaret show, fire tricks show and musicals ("Grease"," Mama Mia").

MINI CLUB – Great team. My younger son (5.5) doesn't speak any of the languages spoken by the team, yet they helped him fit in all the activities and took a real care after him! He looked forward to the mini disco every night (buying the CD with the songs was one of the best investments of my life….he listens to it now we are home and recalls those moments).

FACILITIES – Lots of facilities for young and adults! The mini golf was the highlight of the vacation to my older son (11) as well as the Tennis, Pedals boats, Canoes, Ping-pong. All well maintained with no problem to use whenever you want to. We sailed in the pedal boat every morning, what a way to start the day!!

HOTEL SATFF – it was a true warm and welcoming hospitality. Everyone is there to serve you. Of course, you pay for it, what else, but there is something genuine in the way the staff treat the customers, with a real will to do their best. That includes the receptionists who were very helpful, the waiters at the dining room, the pool staff etc. They speak very good English and I saw that the speak German and French too. I booked the hotel by myself (since this hotel is not suggested in any of the deals available here) and from the first mail I got I could feel I chose the right place to stay: Every little question I had had a quick and detailed reply.

DISABLED AND STROLLES ACCESS – Full access anywhere in the hotel.

MOSQUITOS - After reading the reviews here about them I took with me a whole pharmacy since my younger son is very sensitive . I took it all back since we didn't use it not even once….

HOTEL GUESTS – mainly from the UK, Belgium, Germany and Italy. Very quiet guests. To all you Brits who moan about your "European friend", well, I invite you all to spend one day (not even a week) here in the middle east, where you can REALLY get an idea what rude, loud and impolite people are… ;-)

Room Tip: The vitrines secludes noise - make sure it's closed if you want some queit.
