“Best holiday ever!”

My husband and I got married in Santorini in May 2010 and had the pleasure of staying at the Meltemi Suites and also in the Excelsior Suites at the nearby Meltemi Village hotel. The complex is lovely and, as it is situated off the main road, very peaceful. The pool and bar area are more than adequate for the number of guests the hotel can accomodate and the rooms and communal areas were extremely clean and well-maintained. We upgraded to a suite with a private jacuzzi which was perfect in he hot afternoon sun!

Perissa is a fanastic village with some of the friendliest people I've ever met - it may not have the 'wow' factor of the more cosmpolitan resorts, however it is certainly not lacking in charm and has a great choice of bars and restaurants, with even more choice just a few miles down the beach for those who don't mind a stroll in the sunshine!

By far and away the best thing about the hotel has to be Athena - she is genuinely kind, caring and extremely hard-working. Her knowledge of the island is fantastic and she would always be happy to take time out of her busy day to give us some tips on some of the less publicised beauty spots! In fact, we couldn't wait to return to Santorini in 2011 to catch up with Athena and her sister Roy and, again, they helped to make it another truly memorable holiday.

We are both looking forward to returning again as soon as possible!

Room Tip: Opt for a jacuzzi suite - well worth the extra money!

“Well.........”

The apartments were great, but nobody explained that "meltemi" is a huge, powerful wind that sweeps across the island strong enough to blow your sunbed into the pool, food off your table etc.! Complex was great, Athena superb, but the town desolate and run-down. Watch out for the slip into the sea due to the volcanic rock.. saw a few people in casts with broken wrists. Santorini is very picturesque, perissa is definitely not,

This hotel had the lot.Great location, lovely host, staff and rooms. And best of all made lots of mates. And yes Sharon we made lots of new friends when you left and lots more food when garth left(OMLETTES). It really was a pleasure staying at the meltemi suites so much so we tried to rebook for same time nx yr but sadly fully booked. Getting on a bus was a great laugh, pushing, shoving, shouting enough about me, it was so cheap getting about. And I must congratulate Sandra and Geoff for marching all the way to oia from fira well done(Ichey beard).Yes santorini will definitely be on our must return list, especially The meltemi suites and Athena the lovely host.

Room Tip: Room 16 small patio. Noisy in the morning. Good for wifi connection.

“Great location”

Our first time to Santorini and a lovely relaxing place. Meltemi Luxury Suites is in a great location and a very short distance to restaurants, beach and bus stop. The hosts are lovely and would do everything in their power to ensure you have a wonderful stay. The breakfasts were nice, but a bit of a random set up with the selection of hot items not able to be kept warm (especially the bowl of beans out on its own).

We stayed in room 16 and we were next to the reception which was fine, but the noise of breakfast being set up and people coming to breakfast in the morning meant we were always awoken between 0730am - 0745am.

The balconies on the ground level were also not what I would class as private, as it was more of a courtyard area. This was dissappointing.

Room Tip: Don't stay in room 16, if you wish to sleep past 7.30am

“Fantastic Santorini”

This was the second time at the Meltemi Suites, we went last year and I could not wait to come back, as always Athena welcomed us with open arms and looked really pleased we had come back. I was even better than we remembered, the weather was fantastic every day, some days we just chilled round the pool and were the only two, it felt like our own villa! We had an upstairs room with a jaccuzi which was lovely, the bed was very comfy. It got the sun all day so was lovely to sit late afternoon in complete privacy.

The breakfasts are very nice with a good choice every day and fresh bread and eggs cooked to order how you like them, the rooms were cleaned every day with fresh towel, and beach towels included.

There is nothing that Athena does not know about Santorini and is very happy to give advice on where to go, she told us to go to Santo winery which is about 20mins away, to watch the sunset, we did and it was fantastic, you can sit right on a ledge up high and just enjoy the view, sipping wine, it was not too busy so really recomend going there, the views in Thira and Oia are really lovely but very busy with people coming in from the Cruise ships.

We really like Perrisa because it is notttoo busy and has a real Greek feel, the beach is lovely and there is just enough bars and places to eat, highly reccomend Gods Garden, Atlantica and NTomatini (right on the beach). The prices are much cheaper in Perrissa as an average meal of swordfish and chips/rice/salad was 7.90 euros and the lamb dish for two was 24.00 euros including wine. We did go and eat in a Fira right on the edge of the cliff which was stunning, the food was lovely and the sunset and views amazing it did cost around 90 euros but well worth it.

Finally we met some lovely people all staying at the Meltemi suites (hope Mr Martin did not miss us all too much and made some new friends!!) and we all used to go to Doriens bar for a drink late evening where the beers are 2 euros and cocktails 3 euros, we will go back to Santorini and Meltemi Suites again it is just such a special place for a relaxing holiday, and we just love Athena and the Staff who work so hard.

Room Tip: Upstairs room 14 gets the sun all day and jaccuzi lovely, a/c very quiet it has a small bath so the...
