“The perfect place to stay when visiting Perissa”

The hotel is brilliant. A friendly, family run place which is clean and great value.

Across the road is a supermarket and the beach is jsut down the road past lovely bars and restaurants.

We had an amazing time and the hotel made it all the better. If you want luxury then this isn't the place. However, if you want a clean, comfy, friendly authentic place to stay then book Petra Nera.

A big thanks to Jans (hotel owner) and the young lad from Georgia who is very friendly and works extremely hard.

“Only the basics!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2009

We stayed to Petra Nera hotel as a last minute choice, since we didn't have specific vacation dates up until a week before(!). A friend of ours, who owns a restaurant in Perissa (Acropolis restaurant - nice food) made the arrangements so we got a special price, but 90 euro a day in the high season, as we saw behind the door, seems a lot for this hotel! In my opinion, it is not worth more than 40-50 euro per day.
The furnishing and decoration are poor and dated - probably not renovated since it was built. The beds are really uncomfortable and in most rooms, as far as I had the chance to see, there are two single beds pushed together instead of one double bed - not good for couples! Also, the rooms that face the road (the hotel is located on the main road of Perissa) are really noisy, bikes and cars go by all the time - day and night.
The housekeeping was not really thorough and they changed sheets every 3 days!
The breakfast was also poor and lacked variety and freshness.
The pool was probably clean, we did not swim in it having the beach nearby, but there was nobody at the pool bar at any time!
The beach is like 1 kilometer far - about 15 minutes walk, but Perissa is the only real beach you can visit. Perissa is on the one end - on the other end is Perivolos beach, where all the action takes place - beach bars and water sports.
The owner was nice - he picked us up from the airport and drove us to the port with no extra charge.
In general, this is a hotel that offers basic accomodation with no other amenities!

And, in the end, don't book you ferry tickets with Aegean Speedlines (really small ships) or SeaJets (their ships are out of order every second trip!)

Actually, if you like to have great view and the real colour of Santorini, Oia is the only place that you should stay!

“Good value in Perissa”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 May 2009

We arrived in the Santorini harbour and wanted to go back to Perissa, as it's a good place from which to explore the beaches of the southern part of the island. Yannis, the owner, was there, and we decided to go along with him. The hotel had opened for the season the day before, so there was no water in the pool, but apart from that, everything was fine. We paid 25 euros per night, and were taken to the airport when we were leaving.

“Nothing fancy, but good value for the price.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2008

My 3 friends and I are in our mid-20s and were looking for a budget hotel in Santorini. We stayed in a small quad room, which was a bunk bed and a queen sized bed, which was fine since we did not spend much time at the hotel. For me, the only downside was that we felt it was a little less clean than the other hotels we stayed at in Athens and Mykonos, (the bathroom had a funny smell and seemed a little dirty) but overall not bad. Also, the area in general felt safe, but I would not leave any valuables in the hotel, since our room seemed like it would be easy to break into. But that pretty much goes without saying when you are on vacation. The A/C worked well and there was a good sized refrigerator.

The staff was always very nice and accomodating, Yiannis was there to pick us up at the port even though our ferry was late. Upon departure we were planning to take a bus to the airport, but the buses were way too packed for us and our luggage. The front desk assured us that someone would get us to the airport and they did (15 euro charge). The breakfast was simple but very tasty.

The location is good depending on how much time you have and how you plan on getting around the island. We did not spend a lot of time in Perissa because we wanted to see Oia and some of the other beaches, so we took the bus to Thira, which is the hub, about 20-30mins away, and then took another bus wherever we wanted to go. The bus stop is right next to the hotel, sometimes the buses can be very crowded. We visited the 24-hr bakery across the street almost every day (try the chocolate nutella-filled pastry and the pizzas!) It was nice having a supermarket across the street, as well as a few restaurants/shops within walking distance. You can also walk to Perissa beach.

“Great Spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2006

Nice, clean, comfortable and basic hotel. Rooms was cleaned every day, with fresh sheets and towels, clean surroundings. Only 5 mins to beach and a 24 hour bakery and supermarket over the road (what more do you need!). Pool always looked clean, but never made it in and Perissa is great for exploring the rest of the Island.
