There was no privacy staying in the ground floor accomodation people walked by all day and night. The charge the hotel made to move to the upper floor was very expensive. For the whole of our stay in September the jaccuzis would not heat up and the excuse was always the same, they were waiting for them to be repaired. It is a very expensive place to stay and was excellent for cleanliness, lovely bedding, towels etc, having said that there are lots of beautiful places to stay on Santorini and we would not stay at this hotel again. We travelled with Sunvil Holidays and we got no satisfaction from them regarding privacy of the rooms(re the discription in the brochure) and the unheated jaccuzis.

We stayed at the Ellinon Thea for 3 nights in September. Here's the good and the bad:

Pros:
-very nice location in Firastefani
-"high end" in terms of the linens, sheets, furniture, etc
-extremely helpful and friendly staff

Cons:
-do *not* stay in the "Garden View" room. Not only do you not get a view of the caldera, which is really the only reason to pay extra to be in Firastefani, but the "garden" consists of a bit of dirt outside of the hotel's main entrance in the back. There is zero view of anything but rocks and dirt, and everyone walks right by your room on their way into and out of the hotel. This room is also incredibly small and the balcony was so tight that the two of us could barely get in and out properly. Not a lot of fun considering there is no pool to lounge by, no rooftop garden, etc. We really had nowhere to just hang out.
-the "jacuzzi" is not at all what I was expecting. It was room temperature water, that's it. Like a little pool in your room. It made no sense, and we didn't use it once over the three days

All in all, for the price, I would definitely not stay here again. We payed a lot to be "on" the caldera, when in fact we weren't able to enjoy it at all. What we were paying for the "jacuzzi" was also wasted, since this wasn't a jacuzzi at all.

This hotel was everything we'd hoped for!

Pros:
-Staff is extremely nice, hospitable, and willing to help in any way possible!
-Free breakfast is served in your room at a time of your choosing - and you pick what you want! Really was a delight!
-Very clean, well-appointed.
-Amazing views - looks out over the sunset!
-Good, quiet location - not as loud and actionable as Fira, but enough to do around there - restaurants and shops. Not so touristy that you're always crowded. Location is truly perfect.

Cons (this is a stretch!):
-European-style showers. Not really a con, but it certainly takes getting used to!
-No pool, BUT what's amazing, is that you can use the hotel pools of all the other hotels in Santorini! We used a hotel pool down from this hotel and it was great! So no need to book a hotel with a pool.

Overall, an amazing experience!

We stayed at the Ellinon Thea in July - It is well placed and very convenient and very new and clean with some luxury features like dressing gowns, embroidered linen etc - but on the other hand it is more a guest house than a hotel - there is nowhere to be other than in your room - no yard, garden, pool deck, or pool or even dining hall. The lower floor rooms are at street level and all who walk or drive by are just about inside your room hence no privacy and a lot of noise - the staff are very nice and try hard to please but I think that considering the limitations, it is overpriced. I would not choose it again and if one does stay there ensure you have an upper floor room for privacy and quiet
