“Angry Owner”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2011

mmmmm where to begin
had to turn power on to warm the water up everytime you wanted a shower
shower broke, and took a while to be fixed
bad wiring had our little stove cooker smoking and had to turn off all the fuses (no power til about 9pm when the electrcian came, and children already asleep)
every time I went to ask the owner something he got all defensive, not sure why
only includes arrival pickup, had to arrange own departure transfer
free breakfast = toast and a boiled egg and 1 piece of fruit
it seemed as there was only one maid working here and she struggled to keep up, we didnt get our room made up till mid afternoon at the earliest.
and the same things you have probably read, tiny pool, and power pole in the middle of the view.
for a plus it has a great location, and the cave interior is nice

“Great cave experience with family”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2011

This overlooks the Caldera with great sunsets. The cave we were in had a seperate bedroom; a gift when traveling with two children. There was another bed in the front room and a couch that was a daybed. What we liked here was that it was close to many restaurants and more importantly, convenience stores so that when we were tired of paying 4 euros for a soda we could buy a 2-liter fo 1:20! There is a little roadside gyro shop called something like "Two Brothers" that has great gyros for 2E and spit roasted chicken that was out of this world. Costas at the front desk was very nice and even gave us breakfast the night before leaving because we had to leave before 8am.

Room Tip: Our room 5 was a two room sleeps 4-5. Our table was near the pool which some may find too exposed bu...

“Rip-off!! Not recommended!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2011

We booked a superior studio for three persons. Our "studio" had approx. 10 square meters and a tiny balcony where you can barely sit. The swimming pool can be used by one person at the time. There is no place for sunbathing. The breakfast was adequate and served to your balcony. The view is nice but that is the only nice thing I can say about this hotel. Ruined the experience.

“Simply Stunning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2010

We loved everything about Santorini and Efterpi Villas. Staff at the family-run business were friendly and eager to help with any enquiries we had about the room or things to do on the island. Nothing was too much trouble and airport transfers were easily and cheaply arranged.

The location was perfect (the mini mart/bottleshop was only a few metres away, as were various restaurants) and it was great to sit out on the balcony and enjoy the free breakfast each morning as well as the sunset in the evening. The rooms were very affordable too.

The room was clean, cute and comfortable, and when the windows were open you could enjoy the view and fresh air from inside. The view from the private balcony was amazing. And despite being on the caldera it was fairly private and quiet at night.

We had read mixed reviews about the hotel, mainly due to powerlines blocking the view. But when we arrived this wasn't really a problem. Sure there are powerlines (they have to get power somehow) but they weren't particularly unsightly and you could still enjoy the sweeping view (I am an avid photographer and found I could easily take photos without powerlines in them).

It's a great loccation, a perfect base to explore Fira (which can easily be done on foot), as well as wandering around the caldera. It is also easy to hire scooters/cars to explore the rest of the island. And it would be easy to spend days and days on the balcony just watching the view.

Yes the pool was small but perfect for a dip to cool off.

We highly recommend Efterpi (and Santorini) and would definitely return.

“Absolutely stunning”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2010

Before our trip we had read a lot about Efterpi Villas, both good and bad. We didn't really get our hopes up with the hotel because of what was said about the hotel view and the pool.. But I must say that we were pleasantly surprised!

We stayed there for 3 nights and were greeted by a truly nice owner who showed us our room, told us everything we needed to know about the room itself and made clear that we could ask him anything about the island that we needed to know.
The infamous powerlines were sure enough right in front of the hotel, BUT it did not bother us one bit! For one, the hotel rooms are above the power lines so we could still get great photos... and the view is the best, powerlines or no powerlines. But then, if you really want great photos I truly hope you intend on leaving the hotel anyways and explore the island. We got hundreds of beautiful photos!

The room we got was great, larger than what we had expected and we had every chance of cooking ourselves (which we did one night) but the absolute best thing about this hotel was that we could just pick up the phone in the morning, call reception and tell them what we wanted for breakfast! Within 15 minutes our breakfast was served on our very own balcony whilst enjoying the view!!

We did not spend much time near the small hotel pool. Which truly is small! But then again, who goes to Santorini to stay at the hotel pool?? Leave the hotel and enjoy the black sand beaches! But then if youre looking for a late night dip - the small pool works just fine!

I'd recommend this hotel to anyone! I've already told my family about it :)
