So many wonderful things to mention about this hotel but I would say most importantly, the service was excellent. I stayed here with a boyfriend during August of 2010. While checking in the owner mentioned that he no longer had any rooms with ocean window views available and so after our 1st or 2nd night stay (can't recall which) he would upgrade us to a suite that he had available then, at no extra cost. He didn't have to do this by any means (especially since we booked so last minute, probably 2 nights before) but he offered us this option without us requesting any changes to be made. This was very nice of him and only a testament to the type of service he provided to us. He also told us about this restaurant that only mostly the locals knew about which had the most amazing fish I've tried to this day. It was a bit of hike to get there but well worth it.
Beautiful pool area, breakfast spread, rooms were clean and charming and last but not least, the location was excellent! Right next to Oia but less expensive. - I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Santorini. :)

Room Tip: Great service!

“Heaven on earth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

Santorini ,needless to say is a piece of gem. What makes the stay more enjoyable is the experience at Belvedere. From the moment you check in, you feel very welcomed by all the staff. It's the personal touch that comes from the heart which makes the difference.

Nicholas gave a pretty good orientation and told us that it's good to get lost once in a while, with that in mind we relaxed & had so much more fun exploring the island. We had breakfast served in the room on the last day as it was ending season & not many guest left. Till the very day of the season everyone was still working hard with a smile.

Location is fantastic as you are right smack in the middle of everything. Mama thira, a restaurant located two steps away serves decent food if you are too lazy to go out . Rooms are spacious as they have just been renovated & feels refreshed.

I am glad I picked this hotel & would highly rec this anyone!

This hotel was totally amazing from start to finish. The staff couldnt do enought for us. The room was large and decor was perfect. The pool overlooked the water and the sunsets were breathtaking. It's a must that you go.

Room Tip: all rooms have balconiesfacing the water.

“Good Hotel”

Lets start with what this hotel is not. if you are expecting a Marriot style 4 star hotel with room containing a trouser press then go elsewhere.

What this is however is a good; peaceful, clean, stylish hotel with friendly staff, good rooms with the best view on the island. The proprietor said the best view of the sunset was on the balconies of the hotel and he was right!

The rooms are quiet, clean, well appointed, clean and modern with balconies overlooking the sea. All rooms have a mini bar for soft drinks, very nice bathroom and comfortable tasteful furnishings.

The pool area is clean and comfortable with the best sunbeds I have ever seen again with spectacular views over the caldera. Food and drinks are available from the poolside bar until 19:00. There is no central lobby or bar area to get a drink after 19:00. There are a number of reasonable restaurants within 2 minutes walking but no bar to have a nightcap when returning to the hotel which is a shame.

Breakfast is taken by the pool "Al Fresco" which is fine but we had two days of rain and the covered area was too small to accommodate all guests. There really needs to be a larger covered area to cater for rain when it arrives.

The hotel location is a 10 minute stroll to Fira, all downhill which is much slower on the way back! This location will not suit anyone who cannot walk well enough to master the steps so beware.

The staff are friendly and cannot do enough for you, this is a pleasant change from some holiday destinations. This is particularly welcome when you arrive as help is needed with luggage, you cannot drive to the hotel itself and access is via a path. only 70-100 yards but carrying luggage after a journey in the heat would not have been welcome.

Overall, a good hotel that I can recommend but understand that it is not a Marriot!

Room Tip: Ask for a superior room or junior suite

“Bad start, GREAT finish”

I stayed here three nights. The first night I flew into Santorini my flight was delayed by 30 minutes or so. I arranged a transfer from the airport to the hotel but when I arrived in Santorini the driver wasn't there. No problems, I took a cab instead. BUT upon arriving at the hotel past midnight I found out that my room wasn't available. I would instead have to sleep at an offsite property that was a real dump. This place looked like a motel and smelled like cigarettes. DAMN after all that money. Management said that they'd take care of me the next day. Well it was freaking midnight and I had no other option so I slept in the crap motel near the Belvedere for the first night.

The next morning I went to the Belvedere and the manager apologized about the situation and upgraded me to a jr. suite (I originally booked a basic room with a view). The suite was two floors and had a private balcony with a direct view of the caldera...beautiful! While I was eating breakfast the staff at the Belvedere went to the old hotel, packed up my bags, and delivered it to the new room.

So one day later everything was supposed to be better...still I was mad about the first night. I didn't say anything but I was mad. I didn't stay mad much longer.

After taking in the sights and tastes of Santorini over the next couple of days I started to experience just how friendly the staff were at the Belvedere. People knew your name, wanted to give you some advice on places to go and eat, and would cater to special requests. I wanted a frappe with breakfast one day...no problem. I'm thirsty so I raided the mini bar. No problem...and I'm not going to charge you for the few euros of drinks. I need a ride to the port. No problem I'll arrange a free transfer. Wow talk about service and going above and beyond to make sure a grumpy customer become a lifelong customer.

In the end I was very happy with my stay at the Belvedere. The only thing I wish the hotel had was a gym where I could workout.

In terms of location, the Belvedere is in Firostefani so its a quick easy walk to Fira in less than 10 minutes. Firostefani is quieter than Fira so you're near all the shops, bars, clubs, etc. but at night don't have to worry about the noise or drunk kids wandering about. The sunset view at the Belvedere is amazing as you have a direct view of the caldera. People rave about the sunset at Oia and I just didn't get it. I'd rather be on my balcony or over by the pool drinking a cocktail than standing with hundreds of others looking at the same view of the night sky turning fiery red and then dark.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view and balcony...you will definitely use it.
