“Parrot Cove- worth the drive...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

My wife and I stayed at Parrot Cove Jan. 26-30. To start- if you are driving from Belize City, try and get to Hopkins during the day. The Hummingbird Highway is beautiful...during the day. At night, not so much. I've rented cars / vans and driven Mexico for 20 + years- does not compare to the challenge of the Hummingbird IN THE DARK. Then you have the road into Hopkins...hmmmm. We arrived about 8:40PM - and Chef Rob & staff were in the restaurant, where we had a much appreciated shrimp dinner. Waking up the next morning - we were able to finially see our paradise. Our first day was spent walking into town, eating breakfast at Iris's ( Mary at the Pirate Cove's daughter, Maureen runs the restaurant- two very nice ladies ), buying groceries etc. On the way back, we stopped in and talked to Barbara, the hemp lady. We enjoyed our visit, she is very passionate on HEMP, we bought the hemp bug lotion, and one of her healing lotions. The next day, we drove to the ruins of Xunantunich - about 2 1/2 hours drive. Very impressive ruin. Next day changed a flat tire in the RAIN, drove to Placencia in the RAIN. Enough said. In general, Parrot Cove has very nice , clean rooms, warm showers and the staff was very friendly. We will be back.

Room Tip: get one with a fridge and microwave.

“Great Quiet Beach Location (and Scuba base)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

My family (wife and two small children) recently spent a week at Parrot Cove with Chef Rob and his team. Although the weather the week we were there (New Year's) was horrible with rain and rough seas every day, Rob and the team made us feel at home. Helping make sure we had everything we needed, arranging for a golf cart to go exploring, entertaining our little children so my wife and I could actually finish our dinner and just keeping our spirits bright with their smiles. My daughter (13 months) came down ill the 2nd day and I was very impressed with their concerns and offers to get us up to Dangriga for medical attention if needed.

If you are looking for SCUBA in Belize, but don't want to be on one of the cayes, then the team at Hopkins Underwater Adventures (Declan & Lucie) can take great care of you. Their base of operations is Parrot Cove and they do re-certifications and lessons in the shallow pool and launch right from the pier in front of the hotel.

FOOD...need not look far. The best restaurant in all of Belize is Chef Rob's!!! Plus, there are several great spots close by...Baracuda (right next door) and the restaurants up the beach at the other resorts are tasty as well.

Joe's place serves up a good sloppy joe and a beer plus you can play a game of corn hole on the patio. What else do you expect from a good family from Illinois!

Hopkins is a small village with not a whole lot. If you are looking for night life and the party scene, then DO NOT go to Hopkins. If you want a quiet and laid back place to escape and go do some diving, then this is a good spot.

Room Tip: We stayed in the beach house on the first floor. HUGE two bedroom house (duplex with upper and lowe...

“Excellent holidays in fantastic place”

We have stayed in Parrot Cove Lodge (PCL) between 15 and 19th January 2012 and enjoyed it a lot. Firstly PCL is located at the outskitrs of beautiful village of Hopkins offering excellent place for undisturbed and relaxing stay. The owners made all the efforts to accomodate all our needs and they did it with real pleasure. We arrived to PCL at 6 a.m. - well before check intime - and were immediately given the room and warm welcome. In the same situation in one of the hotels in Mexico we were charged for extra night - which s pretty standard but treatment at PCL made our stay even more enjoyable. Owners service is excellent and far beyond standard as they helped us organising diving, car rental, taxi transfers, teansportation as well as made excellent recommendations concerning places worth visiting during our stay. The room was clean, well equipped and featured two entrances - one directly to the beach and one directly to the swimming pool which was very convenient. To cut long story short we enjoyed our stay a lot and will definitely come back bringng our friends this time. PCL also provides an excelent restaurant Chef Rob - we will write a seperate opinion in the restaurant section.

“Best vacation ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

My husband booked this vacation because it was on his to do list. We arrived christmas day and had the best meal ever cooked by chef Rob. The resort was wonderful, nice staff, clean and lots of things to do. We brought our five year old daughter who had a blast at the pool, hiking in the dschungel, bike riding to the village, sknorkeling, driving around with a golf cart and looking for Tucan birds or other creatures. People are very friendly, food was excellent, no bugs and relaxation pure. This is a definite do over next christmas. Mary is great in booking tours that fit you. She has a feel for what people want and need! Thank you to all the people who made our stay so wonderful!

“Amazing Place - LOVE it”

My husband and I travelled to Belize to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. I knew it would be great but was just overwhelmed at how wonderful everything was. The Parrot Cove Lodge has thought of everything - when it comes to providing exceptional service, they have left no stone unturned.

We booked the Beach house a Ocean view room. The room was wonderful. Great size and again, everything you could think of.

We didn't spend too much time in the room as the location was just beautiful. We spent a lot of time in the restaurant near the pool or on the beach. The poolside and beachside service was amazing. We didn't need to bring anything with us as everything was provided. The service in the restaurants was very friendly.Rob the chef and manager was amazing. The food was exceptional. The view from the restaurant was breathtaking.

Overall, we had a wonderful time at the Parrot Cove Lodge and we should never have left to Ambergris Caye. Thank you to all the staff who made it that extra special. This was truly the best hotel we saw in Belize.
