My wife and I stayed at Parrot Cove Jan. 26-30. To start- if you are driving from Belize City, try and get to Hopkins during the day. The Hummingbird Highway is beautiful...during the day. At night, not so much. I've rented cars / vans and driven Mexico for 20 + years- does not compare to the challenge of the Hummingbird IN THE DARK. Then you have the road into Hopkins...hmmmm. We arrived about 8:40PM - and Chef Rob & staff were in the restaurant, where we had a much appreciated shrimp dinner. Waking up the next morning - we were able to finially see our paradise. Our first day was spent walking into town, eating breakfast at Iris's ( Mary at the Pirate Cove's daughter, Maureen runs the restaurant- two very nice ladies ), buying groceries etc. On the way back, we stopped in and talked to Barbara, the hemp lady. We enjoyed our visit, she is very passionate on HEMP, we bought the hemp bug lotion, and one of her healing lotions. The next day, we drove to the ruins of Xunantunich - about 2 1/2 hours drive. Very impressive ruin. Next day changed a flat tire in the RAIN, drove to Placencia in the RAIN. Enough said. In general, Parrot Cove has very nice , clean rooms, warm showers and the staff was very friendly. We will be back.
