We arrived just after midnight. Very tired after a long flight. Went to use the room safe only to find it didn't work. We rang reception and maintenance came up within 15 minutes. After a while he said he would return with a new safe which he did. Went to have a shower and found that there was no soap/shampoo/body wash in the bathroom. Rang reception and the girl advised that she would get them sent up. 30 minutes later we are still waiting. Rang reception but no answer. Went down to reception to ask again and finally they were sent up to our room. Unable to sleep that night due to the incessant road noise. We asked fo an upgrade which would have cost RM80 (about £20.00) per night however the three rooms which we were shown were no better and seemed to be a bit dated. We were advised that they would check again and let us know if any other room was available, however they didn't get back to us. You do actually get used to the noise and we did get some good nights sleep.
We were on the 7th floor which had just had new carpet laid on the landing. The room was very spacious and really clean. Breakfast was good but you did have to fight for eggs at the cooking station.
There is not much in the way of entertainment in the hotel. We went to the Sagar restaurant for one meal (anniversary) which was very good. In the main we ate at the little resaurants which are dotted about down the main road.
One bone of contention is that there are limited sunshades in the garden, There are about 25-30 of these shades and over 300 rooms. Most of these would have towels on the loungers very early. They all had little signs on saying that they were rented out so that no-one else could use them. Apparantly if you went to see Jenny Wong (Managers PA) you could rent them for RM50 (just over £10.00 per day - nice little earner for the hote!!). Very often these loungers were not used at all during the day as the guests who had hired them had gone out for the day. The garden is a pleasant area and providing you can get a lounger this is the best place to chill out.
If you want a beach holiday then this the not the place for you. There are jellyfish in the sea. We did ignore this for a couple of days until we had rain one night and the next morning there were a considerable amount of jellyfish washed up on the beach. After that we just used the pool. The beaches are public beaches and there is a considerable amount of activity going on - jet skis, banana floats, boat trips, parasailing and horse riding.
In the main the hotel has a roomy feel and the staff are quite friendly. Would we go to this hotel again - possibly. It was convenient for walking up to the night market. It was very safe to walk about.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review on Tripadvisor.
We have taken note of your comments over the delay in supplying of bathroom amenities and we apologise for the inconvenience caused. Appropriate action has been taken to address the areas mentioned. I know we can and will do better in the future.
As to your comment on the rental of cabanas, it is chargeable for exclusive usage only, otherwise we will face the previous difficulty of guests fighting daily to take “territorial possession” of the cabana. However, we still allow the “first come, first served” basis for any free cabana that has not been rented out and those guests who wanted exclusive use have accepted the fair charges levied. Hopefully this will keep everyone happy.
It was a pleasure to have been of service to you and I look forward to welcoming you back again in the not too distant future.
