my husband and i stayed here in Feb 2011. Had a connecting flight from KL arriving to Parkroyal at around 12 noon- was told room not ready although everyone else that was checking in managed to get keys to their room. when we were allocated a room it was very small and on looking at our check in details it appeared our room number was different to the one we were in- my husband took a walk and found the room that was on our check in details was being cleaned and the door was open for him to see it. this room was much bigger so we requested reception change us to that room and they did- great . The hotel itself was very nice and we would go there again- the pool side was very nice and very clean, Whilst prices for food and drink was expected for a 4 star hotel it did seem a little steep considering the restaurants and bars in a very close vacinity charged much much less but hey it is a hotel after all. We had massage in a massage place (cant recall the name) which is situated next door to the restaurant with the live fish swimming in their tanks (near the restaurant shaped as a ship) which was more than half the price of the massage in the hotel. Definately recommend you find "long beach" which is where locals go to eat and it is rammed with locals and tourists alike- great for sampling the local cusine and eating the penang way. The night market is on outside the hotel EVERY night which means you have to wade through it everytime you go out of the hotel- however, the night market is sooo long it practically dictates about half a mile along the road. we had a great time here and would definately go back again.

This hotel is a little bit old, but it's still clean and comfortable. I like this kind of hotels more than the modern and new ones! cause it feels like home.
The room was beautifuly decorated with warm colors and local decorative objects, the sleep quality was excellent, the bathroom was a little bit old too but very clean, the house keeping was awesome, Mrs.Is our house keeper arranged our personal stuff too! such as folding my T-shirts left on the bed, I appreciate that.
the pool was very beautiful with an iland in the middle, there is an other outdoor pool for children with a waterslide. the pool wasn't over crowded and was clean, the beach it self is clean but the sea is not good for swimming, but there is many kinds of watersports right at the hotel's beach, such as jetski, parasailing, banana and ringo.
the poolbar staff were friendly and helpful.
the location of this hotel is very nice, night market (6:00pm - 1:00am) is right in front of hotel, but if you wanna buy somthing you have to get about 30% discount!!!
you can go to goergetown by taxi (about 40RM) or bus(101 or 103).
there are many diners and massages around the hotel, you can read about them in tripadvisor.
we checked out at 5:30am and went to airport but we missed our flight, so we called hotel to see if we can get our rooms back, and they said yes you can, therefore if they can do something for you they won't hasitate, especially the recieption staff.
if you are going to penang from kuala lampur please book a flight, road trip to penang is very exhausting.
overaly I recommend this hotel.

Took a short break from Singapore for three nights and we were not disappointed by the Parkroyal. From the front office reception staff through to senior management everything was done with a smile and kind word.

Yes there are a some areas of the property that could do with a tidy up, but these issues were compensated for by the service.

Ate in the restaurant first night due to heavy rain and the variety and quality was good. Breakfast was a highlight and great.

We stayed at Parkroyal two weeks for christmas. Excellent destination, outstanding stay. My 4 year old loved the Kokonut club!!! Our Deluxe Sea view room was very pleasant, the view was stunning. I strongly recommend this hotel and we will come back for sure.
