We recently returned from a family holiday in Malaysia which included 10 nights at the Rasa Sayang in Penang and it was wonderful.
We were a large family of 6 adults including my 13 month old son, despite it being a busy period they managed to organise 2 interconnecting rooms (which helped during baby nap times) with the other room right next door.
We stayed in the Rasa Wing that includes afternoon tea and drinks and canapés in the evening - both served exceptional food - the little pastries at afternoon tea were fabulous. The Rasa wing swimming pool reserved just for Rasa wing guests is a place you can truly relax - it is a gorgeous area and the Garden Wing pools are perfect for swimming with infants/children. The Rasa lounge is meant to be an adult only area after 6pm but they were happy to welcome our 13 month old and other children if they were not too noisy!

I have to mention the incredible staff. They were all very friendly and always very happy to deal with any request and issue.
Any tours/activities organised by the hotel were quite pricey but the hotel were very happy to discuss alternative ways of doing activities and exploring the island. We also had a hill view Rasa room which doesn't have a balcony and overlooks the hotel entrance/car park (and some hills!), there are other rooms with balconies/sea views but they come with an extra cost. Other than these small issues I cannot fault the hotel, it is beautifully kept, the gardens are very lovely, the pools are gorgeous and warm, our rooms were clean, luxurious and well appointed, breakfast was excellent with a buffet choice of western/Japanese/Indian and Malay food.

if u are check in for one night.. u never get the best service here.. stay for 3-4 night.. all is there

The staff is very friendly. However, room was very old and defintely not 5 stars. Service is slow but very friendly. In the night (ie 1am till 2am) it was very noisy since there was a wedding party (?). Prices for food are 6 stars, food quality about 4 stars. In general, we will not come back.

Stayed 10 nights in December 2011. It was a busy Christmas holiday period. Hotel is very well run with good and efficient service. Hotel rooms are very well equipped. Although our room was close to hotel elevator we did not hear any noise in the room. There is excellent variety of dishes for breakfast. One minus was the fact that there was only one ala carte restaurant which was often booked-out.
Pools, hotel gardens and mini golf course are well maintained. Overall, a good place to stay!
