We stayed here for one night on our 2 week trip around NZ North Island.
This is a very quaint and small cabin, but in such a lovely picturesque surroundings. We were the only visitors (there are two cabins) so it was incredibly peaceful. They have an amazingly fluffy cat (called Ratbag) and he was adorable and very friendly, he enjoyed dinner with us (roast chicken which we bought on the way from Countdown and then promptly fell asleep on the bed for the rest of the night - he ate the remainder of the chicken for breakfast).
Rachel was a fantastic host, she filled up the fridge with food, the place was very clean and well equipped. We wanted for nothing. The heated warmed up the room well as it was quite cold at night, but we were toasty warm.
The cabins are one room - Queen bed underneath, two single mattresses on the mezzanine (ladder to them and it's all open, so no toddlers!!) There's a small kitchenette in the room, with small table, chairs and TV. We stayed with our two children (17 and 11), so it was pretty cosy, but we quite enjoyed ourselves.
The toilet and bathroom are outside, so it's cold during the night but they do have a heater in them.
Well worth a visit, but probably not a long term stay.
It's about a 10-15min drive back to the Waitomo Caves.More
