An excellent hotel, great service, average food, incredibly beautiful beach. We really enjoyed our trip! Totally worth it.!

We like to thank members of staff of Villas Paraiso for taking such good care of all of us and also say that one day we will come back. For everybody else, hospitality has no boundries at this friendly, well serviced hotel and super friendly and although we stayed at more than 6 different hotels during our vacation, this is the hotel where we take the best memories with us. Kepp the good work up.

It takes longer to get to: first a taxi or shuttle to the small port of Chiquilla and then a ferry to Isla Holbox, but for those wanting a relaxing, beautifully natural, quiet holiday, then a visit to Isla Holbox is well worth the effort.

We choose Villas Paraiso del Mar on the strength of the reviews on TA and the resort site. It did not disappoint us. The grounds are well maintained, the greeting and further assistance from the front desk pleasant and helpful and the room spacious. We were on the top floor and I would not recommend this for someone with mobility concerns as we needed to climb a spiral staircase. At first we were disappointed that we did not have a balcony and hammock, but the interior sitting area was just as comfortable. The walk in shower had good pressure and the water was always warm. The bed was comfortable. We did not need to use the A/C while we were there in January. We spent hours outside on the loungers, under a palapa, either reading or looking at the sea and the pelicans flying by. The breakfast buffet had plenty of choices for a health conscious meal or an opportunity to have eggs made to order. We choose to have only breakfast at the resort's pretty dining room and have dinner in town, but the all inclusive appears to be fair value. We walked for miles on the beach, picking up shells to bring home. Many people rent golf carts, but we were able to walk anywhere without them, although they looked fun. We browsed the shops in town, but one of the nicest we went to is run by Maru right on the resort's site. We did not use the pool, although it appeared clean. This is a resort for people wishing to enjoy a quiet holiday and the time to unwind. The internet on site had a higher charge than the cafe's in town so we waited til we went for supper to check mail. I had only a few mosquito bites (the same as in Playa del Carmen) and my husband had none, but nevertheless, I would recommend bringing something for them should there not be the pleasant breeze we experienced. We felt safe on the island and were never approached to buy anything on the street or look at a time share demo.

I had been to Cancun and Cozumel in the past and enjoyed them, but this time wanted somewhere more real and less commercial. Holbox is definitely that. It is like another world and a great change to the typical holiday in the sun. You still get the amazing weather of course and at the Paraiso Del Mar you also get good quality and luxury. The villas are a great idea and I would happily have lived there permanently! Lovely clean beach and if you can bag a double sun bed on the sand you will not regret it. Good food and nice people. This is one to tell the grandkids about in years to come. If you are planning to travel to this part of the world we strongly recommend this resort.
