“Pure Fun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2009

The resort is undergoing renovations from the hurricane, and needs it, but if you want to discover unspoiled Grenada with a fabulous host, great food (and champagne), lovely beaches, all-inclusive (optional), this place can not be beat! The manager/host James is a gourmet chef and prepared most of our meals to order; no massive bland buffets. He guided us on hiking adventures, local shops, festivals and parties. The location is remote, so it's great for if you want a quiet retreat. We took several hikes on our own to nearby beaches, which we had to ourselves. James will make you a picnic. Our suite faced the beach. Wind powered electricity and other green technologies made us feel good about being here. We can't wait to return after the renovations.

My daughter & I were there in March. No one else was staying at the resort,so we had the place to ourselves. That should have told us something was wrong. James took us all around the island which was very nice of him He tried but, it just didn't work.Sunday brunch noone showed up..Took us to the beach & picked us up. Every morning he ask us what we wanted for breakfast, then we waited for hrs. to be served, same at night, which was always fish. We had cold showers since we didn't know we had air condition. If you used the hot tub,you didn't have hot water for a shower. Neede a flashlight to get back to y our cabin at night. No pool as we had a hurricane!!Couldn't read at night as the lights were to dim.Had ants in one suitcase & nothing was done about it.Finally we had him take us into town & checked into a wonderful full-service hotel. What a delight, even a pool.Major work needs to be done.

“Please stay someplace else-worst hotel ever!!!!!!!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2009

This was the worst "hotel" that my husband and I have ever stayed in. It was out in the middle of no where. It had a pool that did not have any water in it and a beach that was littered with garbage. We were in a climate that was 100+ degrees everyday and there was no place to swim. It was a challenge to get from the restaurant to our room. There was no lighting and the walk-way was very uneven.

“Great food, no-frills, we would return!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 March 2009

We would definitely return to Paradise Bay. The food is incredible and the villas have beautiful views. James Post is an excellent chef, knowledgeable tour guide, and tries to accomodate his guest's every need.

The food here is truly a highlight. Each day we had breakfast and dinner at Paradise Bay, except for Fish Friday. All of our meals were freshly prepared with ingredients picked up locally, like fish and produce. We knew our meals were prepared fresh by listening to the chopping sounds and the sound of a blender. The 7-course brunch is great! James is really a masterful chef. His cooking rivals some of the best restaurants we've dined in throughout the US. Even if you do not stay at Paradise Bay we would urge you to make a reservation and a trip to James' restaurant while you are in Grenada. Be aware it may take some time for the entire meal, but it is worth the wait.

The resort's website portrays exactly what you should expect during your stay. This is not a luxury resort, so do not expect daily maid service. However if you need anything such as clean towels, you only need to ask. The entire resort is not completed. There is no pool and several buildings are still under construction. There are no lights between the villas and the main buidling, so bring a flashlight.

The resort is located on the southeast side of the island, which is a 20-40 minute car ride to the closest towns or a 15 minute walk to the closest village. So, it's not located in an area where you can walk to towns, but neither are the few other resorts in close proximity.

The resort is situated 85 feet up on a bluff adjacent to two beaches. We did not swim at either beach, but saw some local families swimming at one beach several times. You can also hike to several secluded beaches, which we did, and chances are you will see no one except maybe a cow or two grazing in the grassy areas. Our beach time was spent at Grand Anse, since we preferred the calmer beaches on the Caribbean side.

We did not rent a car during our stay in Grenada. James provided transportation during our stay for a fee, including day trips to the beach, several tours of the island and to Grand Etang National Park.

Paradise Bay is a resort with enormous potential! We would highly recommend Paradise Bay to travelers with an open mind and who can forego some luxuries. We hope to return in the future.

“Great views, Great Rooms, Quiet Getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2009

Paradise Bay has wonderful views of the Atlantic ocean from each guest house. We enjoyed the constant sound of the waves in this peaceful and relaxed setting. The guest houses are very nice and private. Mr. Post was a really good host and tour guide and we enjoyed getting to know him. He is also the chef and the food was all very good. He prepares daily meals based on fresh produce and fish and while there is no actual menu to chose from everything was delicious. The price of some of the food was a little unexpected but probably similar to a nice european resort restaurant.
The resort is located off the beaten path which is great but you will need to set up personal tours because getting to public transportation is very hard.
Overall we had a great experience.
