Please be warned not to book rooms and pay by card on this hotel's website. Friends found that when they arrived with such a booking and receipt in hand they were refused rooms and the reception staff was rather unhelpful.
Payments and orders go to an agent, but no information about this on the website, and apparantly the agent did not inform the hotel nor passed the payment over. And hotel refused responsibility for their own website.
My friends had to pay for two rooms for two nights until hotelowner and agent turned up.
The hotel is a nice 4 star hotel, old and worn. Good to stay in for the reasonable price. But 25 mts by taxi to the old town of Havana.

Booking this hotel online was VERY inconvenient. First, the email address they provide on their website fails to deliver your email. After several of my emails were bounced back, i had to call the hotel which costs a fortune because no one understood my pricing questions. Then when i provided my email address and asked someone to email me back, they said they would but did not. Finally, when i went ahead and booked online, despite my reservations about this hotel's services, it took over three days for them to confirm whether my colleagues and i indeed got the rooms we requested. We then had to wait to book our flight and lost out on a seat sale....

I know Cuba is not as advanced as North America but considering the rates they charge, they should be able to provide simple services like an email address that works and some efficient services, like confirming your stay within 24 hours.

Like most others I was here at a conference. I loved every minute of it- the rooms, the staff and the 24 hour bar, expecially during a category 4 hurricane which passed right over us.
I agree that it is just that little bit far from the action and it is expensive if you are one person travelling back and forth to Havana.
However it is worth it - I don't get to Havana often enough!!

I spent a week at the Palco while on a business trip with a friend. The hotel is very modern and about as nice as most north american business class hotels. It is in a central location with easy access to most of Havana. About 15 minutes from Old Havana and 10 minutes to the Airport.
The pool area is nice and well kept. Breakfast buffet has a great selection of fresh fruits and other favorites. Nice quite area. While in town, be sure to check out El Palenque, a restaurant that's a short distance from the hotel (ask at the front desk). Great food and reasonable prices. Wine and spaghetti for 2 people for only $11USD. All the food is excellent. You'll go back every day.
