“Well worth a visit to this little treasure!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

Arriving in Tarbert for an early ferry to Islay, we had heard of the warm hospitality offered by Andrew. Without a booking, Andrew welcomed us into his maticously maintained and decorated B&B. If you are short of site seeing, spend time looking around the treasure trove that is The Moorings. Wonderful beds and personal attention to detail, Andrew is the perfect host. Ask for restaurant recommendations, Andrew knows which of the locals are stocking the good stuff.

“best B&B in Scotland!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

My friend and I stayed at The Moorings for 2 nights on our recent holiday in Scotland. We had booked a twin room with a private bathroom. When I rang to confirm the booking Andrew (the lovely owner) offered us the family room with ensuite instead for only a little bit more money. Andrew was by far and away the most welcoming host we had our entire trip. If we hadn't pre-paid our ferry fare to Arran for the next leg of our trip we probably would have stayed longer. We did NOT want to leave!! The whole house feels warm and cosy and the beds were soooo comfortable. Andrew really pays attention to the little details when making his guests welcomed and comfortable - and boy does it show.

I stayed here because I couldn't go past the rave reviews on Trip Advisor, and it didn't let me down. I'd recommend The Moorings 110%! Good thing we stayed here towards the end of our trip or the rest of our accommodation would have seemed pale indeed when comparing.

Tarbert is also a lovely laid back spot with lots of nice walks and scenery. It's well located for Inverary which is well worth a day trip.

Would definitely go back! Can't thank Andrew enough!

“highly recommended.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

We stayed at The Moorings for 4 nights. We chose the Moorings after seeing the views online and looking at the other choice in the Village. All we can say is that we got it right. We were lucky enough to get the En Suite room on the front of the house. The view out to the harbour and into Loch Fyne was even better in the flesh!.

Andrew is a fantastic host. VERY clean rooms, FANTASTIC breakfasts that set us up for the day, and very welcoming. Andrew made us feel like friends coming to stay, rather than paying customers.

The only problem is that Claire misses the owl when she comes home now!
(book The Moorings and you'll understand!)

If we are i the area again, we'll book The Moorings

Claire & Chris (Nottingham)

Room Tip: en suite room on the front of the house!

“a fine stay at the moorings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

On arriving at the Moorings, being early on the day, our host, Andrew, was still arranging our room but still had time to welcome us and allowed us to leave our luggage so we could have a look around the village without struggling with bags. On returning he was just finishing off (very meticulous). the b&b was just a short walk to the village, was very comfortable and clean and the garden something to behold, I dont think I have ever seen so many garden ornaments and fun gadgets before (really must be seen). Andrew himself is a really nice person and looked after us very well on our short stay, making us very welcome and made tim to have a chat no matter how busy he was. The room was a family room overlooking the entrance to the harbour, with spacious shower and seperate w.c. both en- suite, the decor and furnishings were to a high standard, and the view lovely. Breakfast was a bowl of fresh fruit followed by a hearty full scottish with toast, tea or coffee with a nice chat to follow. We had a lovely time in Tarbert thank you Andrew.

Room Tip: room no 3 has a wonderfull view of th entrance to the harbour from which you can watch the fishing b...

“Great B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

What a wonderful place! Great bed, great food, great host, great view..... there's just nothing to fault at The Moorings. Quiet location, but within walking distance of everything. And we loved the dogs too!
