We stayed at the Hotel de Wereld in Wageningen for one night in February. 120 Euro (breakfast 15 Euro p.p. / free parking)
Although Wageningen itself is not a very special place to visit the hotel is most certainly worth a night’s stay.
The hotel’s rooms are decorated with care; clean, straight lines throughout; an eye for detail: plants on the bed stand, a single colourful flower in the bathroom, high quality bath products.
Although the room has no minibar it is equipped with an espresso machine
Unfortunately our room did not have a bathtub although some of the others apparently do
A stay at the hotel is rounded off by a meal at the hotel’s acclaimed restaurant – O Mundo. Starting with an aperitif in the old, restored lobby you are then lead into the crisp, light, modern dining room. The dishes are fresh and prepared with care; the combinations of flavours original and successful (3 course 32,50).
Unfortunately the breakfast is a little disappointing in comparison. Although the products are of above average quality the selection is very limited.
And last but not least there is the hotel’s historic past as the place where the German’s agreed the surrender of Holland.
Altogether a special place for a treat at a reasonable price.
