“Huge apart hotel attached to an upgraded old hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

It looks like the owner of this property pointed a charged gun to the head of the architect, forcing him to hurry up with the plans.
The old hotel was obviously a very chic building some decades ago.
They connected it with a monster apart hotel. Once you enter the old hotel, you have to pass with your luggage through the restaurant, then follow a very narrow and long corridor to the elevators aria. You are now in the new and modern apartments hotel. The lack of style is an evidence, but don't worry too much about this issue! The rooms are very good and the view from the top balconies is just impressive. We've got a large apartment with a large living room, two separate bedrooms, two bathrooms and a lovely balcony with comfortable armchairs. The balcony view was just amazing, as I mentioned before.
Let's go back to the living room: large flat TV screen with about 50 channels or so, a great comfy sofa, comfy armchairs, large windows, massive wood furniture.
Both bathrooms were modern and functional. There was not bath tube, but the shower cabin was quite large. Fluffy white towels and bathrobes, toiletries and slippers were there. All in all, nice apartment!
Stepping out from the apartment back to the corridor is like you move yourself to a budget hotel within a second. The spa was not bad at all, but there is a lot of room for improvement. The swimming pool was large, but not much to say about.
The breakfast was slightly better than average.
All in all, it was a nice experience!

Room Tip: Ask for balcony rooms on the top floors if you want to enjoy an amazing overview

“amazing hotel.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

this hotel should be the first rated in Poiana Brasov,
we had booking under the name of my girlfriend Roxana weekend Sat 28 check out Sun 29 Jan
We had non refundable booking and we were affraid that roads might be closed from Bucharest to Poiana Brasov because of the snow so we called hotel and we told the hotel and informed them and they were very understanding with us,
anyway we made it on time we arrived with our car the day of check in a bit early
receptionist Mariana was incredibly nice she let us check in earlier ,
then we left our car and got access to the shuttle service between ski slopes and the hotel. so our car was just parked there for the whole weekend
the hotel is sitting on a beautifull hill with spectacular view from the balconies,
we got incredible 2 bedroom apartments,
one with jacuzzi bath tub, and the other with shower,
room are really spacious,
living room area is huge, has dining table, sink, microwave,
in each bedroom a tv and in living room an additional one,
we didn't need the room service at all , since everything was there
minibar price are reasonable,
breakfast was quiet good with many choices, of local food ( cheese, meat, eggs, jams,, etc..)
one more thing,
each had his phone and we were browsing internet almost everywhere,
we had incredible high speed internet free WIFI connection in every room, in every reception, in all public and private areas of the hotel,

there was 2 top choices in poiana brasov,
Alpin and Sport Hotel
but i think Alpin is much better cause Sport Hotel is directly sitting outside the Bradul ski slope which is so crowded,,

“Five star rooms, four star service and a 3 star SPA”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

As I mentioned in my review on my previous stay, the Aparthotel, which is actually the new wing of the old 4 star hotel, has exceptional suites, of the highest standard - very spacious, cozy, warm, with a large bathroom (jacuzzi).

However, since my last stay, I was expecting improvements in the rooms too - the bathroom amenities are the same as in the rooms in the four star wing, of the cheapest quality. There are no real king beds, but queen beds adjoined. It seems my comments went completely unignored - instead of investing in LCD screens in elevators and a useless slimming machine in the SPA, they could have changed the mattresses and could have replaced the low quality artificial foam pillows, at least with down/feather ones, which are a standard even in a four star hotel. As for the state of the room, it is well kept - very clean.

The most disappointing experience about my stay was the SPA, which I was expecting to be a five star one. But since, the SPA, physically is in the old building (the four star one) it seems I was wrong. The decor of the SPA is quite pleasant, lots of wood and brown coloured accessories. Treatment rooms are small, yet the beautiful outside window with the nice view cannot compensate for the very uncomfortable massage bed (and short) I am 1.91 and my feet were out. Again, the owners of the hotel saved money, buying the cheapest available beds.

As for service at the SPA, there is no service but rather a chaotic communication between staff and clients. My therapist did introduce herself, then showed me to the treatment room, yet she didin't ask any of the essentials - whether the room temperature or lights were ok. Also, she did not explain anything about the treatment and started a mechanic up and down massage, or better to say rub, using indeed heated stones. The massage oil I was told (not by my therapist but by the spa receptionist) was by Yonka, a brand I never heard of but from the texture of the oil, it was hardly a natural one. Then, in the same robotic style, she suddenly interrupted her moves and said the treatment was over. Nobody asked me whether I enjoyed my treatment or not. Rather, on exist, a SPA receptionist (the only one) who was attending to other clients shouted from a distance - are you Mr ? as I said yes, she pointed to a bill which was on the desk and asked me to sign. On my way back to the room, through a narrow corridor which connects the new wing, I couldn't help but notice the horrific courtyard view where all the trash of the hotel was thrown. And this completed what was supposed to be a five star SPA experience.

Room Tip: Avoid the old wing and make sure you book the ApartHotel wing Avoid peak periods, especially weeken...

“Stay here only if you didn't pay for it!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011 via mobile

I stayed here last 3 days for a Christmas Party organised by my company. My company booked almost all rooms and apartments (I stayed in an apaetment) but even so they have some problems.
Plus: big, clean room, with good location.
Minus: they have a big parking place but they didn't clean it from snow, they have big rooms but they didn't make them all warm so in some rooms îs really cold, at the reception the personal îs slow and disorganised, the pool îs highly clorinated and the meals are very poor. The breakfast îs so poor and bad (îs included in the price of the room) that you can not have to make any selection because you don't have what to choose. The coffee îs so bad that it didn't taste or smell like a coffee, îs only a coloured water. In my oppinion they need a real cook and some payed ,well prepared personal and more return to the clients who pay a lot of money! Stay here only if you don't pay for it!

“Very good for business meetings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

My impression is that this big hotel is perfect for business meetings with a great number of people(dealer meetings, team building etc). This kind of meetings will not be so good news for the family tourist.
