We adored Casa Talia, when we finally found it! Modica isn't the easiest town to navigate by car - but it is certainly one of the most beautiful in Sicily. And Casa Talia is definitely the best place to stay there. Highlights were the extraordinary view from the balconies and lush garden, the delicious home-made breakfast served al fresco with the aforementioned view spread in front of us, the friendly and informative hosts and personal, warm attention, and the very stylish rooms. (The beds are very firm, by the way, but I asked for an extra eiderdown which I stuffed under the sheet -and that was fine!) Talia was our favourite of the five places we stayed in during our trip round Sicily. My daughters (18 and 21) loved their elegant room, and were enchanted by the cute cats lurking around every corner of the steep steps up and down the charming route to the main street (5 mins max each way - but not for the infirm!) and the chocolate and cannoli at the Bonajuto chocolate shop at the bottom of the hill. Stay in Modica - a far more real and lived-in town than the more touristy Ragusa and Noto nearby , and just as interesting, architecturally. (You can visit those for the day - take Marco's advice, he is brilliant at suggestions, and we found Sampieri by the sea on his recommendation - gorgeous. Thank you Marco and family, we wish we could have stayed longer.
