Casa Talia sits high on a hill in Modica, in the part of town that is known as Modica Bassa. 200 meters from the hotel is a free parking lot, from which you can walk to the hotel- a cluster of small renovated brick buildings set in a beautiful garden where breakfast is served. We stayed in a double room for 130 euro's, that is called "cedro". We loved the adjoining terrace and the fresh breakfast with cake, fruit, a freshly made smoothie and jam. But our room had a few downsides that surprised us in a hotel that aimes to be a well-designed oasis and promotes "slow living."
The wall between our room and the adjoining room was so thin that literally every sound of our neighbours could be heard, from the sound of their i-phone being switched on to a lot of intimate sounds from bathroom and bedroom that you would not want to hear...
The bathroom had an ok size but the room itself was so small that there was only space for one suitcase and instead of a wardrobe there was a simple railing for clothes, which gave the room a messy appearance.
On a small table a few bottles of beer and soda were displayed, but there was no fridge to shield them from the summer temperature of 30 degrees celsius minimum.
There was a lovely communal garden with olive and fig trees, but there were only two chairs, which were usually occupied for hours by one couple, thus leaving no room for other people to enjoy the shade.
Even so, we would love to return, but we think the price for this room needs to be lowered to merit the current standard.
