“Great Setting, Unique Experience, friendly owners”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

Staying here was a great experience for us. Stylish room, but few amenities. A wonderful terrace overlooking the town. Generous and healthy breakfast. a series of hillside homes renovated and strung along the steep hillside. Fun walking down into town.
If driving get very detailed instructions. Perhaps not for childredn and elders.
The owners are very friendly, creative, interesting and accomodating.
Wished we could have stayed longer to linger on the terrace.

“Gorgeous setting and caring owners”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

We stayed at Casa Talia as part of a Southern Sicily trip, staying here for 3 nights. The hotel sits high on hills at the side of the Baroque town, the location for us was perfect, we had a stunning terrace with stunning views and our room was quiet at night. The location could be a challenge for the less active, you need to walk down 250 stairs to reach the bars and restaurants in the evening but for us this was a pleasant start to the evening. Breakfast was delicious served in their gardens, service and quality superb. Our room I would describe as rustic but comfortable, the bathroom could be improved, clothes are hung on a hanging rail, but there is a fridge filled with goodies! The hotel is hard to find so you are best to phone when you reach the town and they will talk you through directions. Modica is a large town, but with a great selction of bars and restaurants to enjoy.

Room Tip: We had the highest room with the best terrace!

“stylish boutique hotel that needs to work on the details”

Casa Talia sits high on a hill in Modica, in the part of town that is known as Modica Bassa. 200 meters from the hotel is a free parking lot, from which you can walk to the hotel- a cluster of small renovated brick buildings set in a beautiful garden where breakfast is served. We stayed in a double room for 130 euro's, that is called "cedro". We loved the adjoining terrace and the fresh breakfast with cake, fruit, a freshly made smoothie and jam. But our room had a few downsides that surprised us in a hotel that aimes to be a well-designed oasis and promotes "slow living."
The wall between our room and the adjoining room was so thin that literally every sound of our neighbours could be heard, from the sound of their i-phone being switched on to a lot of intimate sounds from bathroom and bedroom that you would not want to hear...
The bathroom had an ok size but the room itself was so small that there was only space for one suitcase and instead of a wardrobe there was a simple railing for clothes, which gave the room a messy appearance.
On a small table a few bottles of beer and soda were displayed, but there was no fridge to shield them from the summer temperature of 30 degrees celsius minimum.
There was a lovely communal garden with olive and fig trees, but there were only two chairs, which were usually occupied for hours by one couple, thus leaving no room for other people to enjoy the shade.
Even so, we would love to return, but we think the price for this room needs to be lowered to merit the current standard.

“Elegant, stunning rooms and great gardens overlooking Modica”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 May 2011

The Casa is part of houses built into the rocks, the rooms are v modern and high design owners both architects and it is reflected in the elegant and tranquil design, They are v friendly and the terraced gardens are lovely, breakfast underneath the olive trees was great. Drawbacks are there is no parking so its quite a walk up the hill and down terraces to get to. It is not I would have thought suitable for young children or for those who are not able to walk up and down steep steps to get to, But if you are none of these its well worth the walk.

Room Tip: All rooms are new and v stylish

“Truly gorgeous find in an amazing town!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2010

We adored Casa Talia, when we finally found it! Modica isn't the easiest town to navigate by car - but it is certainly one of the most beautiful in Sicily. And Casa Talia is definitely the best place to stay there. Highlights were the extraordinary view from the balconies and lush garden, the delicious home-made breakfast served al fresco with the aforementioned view spread in front of us, the friendly and informative hosts and personal, warm attention, and the very stylish rooms. (The beds are very firm, by the way, but I asked for an extra eiderdown which I stuffed under the sheet -and that was fine!) Talia was our favourite of the five places we stayed in during our trip round Sicily. My daughters (18 and 21) loved their elegant room, and were enchanted by the cute cats lurking around every corner of the steep steps up and down the charming route to the main street (5 mins max each way - but not for the infirm!) and the chocolate and cannoli at the Bonajuto chocolate shop at the bottom of the hill. Stay in Modica - a far more real and lived-in town than the more touristy Ragusa and Noto nearby , and just as interesting, architecturally. (You can visit those for the day - take Marco's advice, he is brilliant at suggestions, and we found Sampieri by the sea on his recommendation - gorgeous. Thank you Marco and family, we wish we could have stayed longer.
