“stunning accommodation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2007

We stayed for four nights at this hotel and on the whole would agree with the previous review, we also stayed in one of the suites which are stunning with two bathrooms and are spacious. Good aircon and huge bed. Toiletries smelt nice but basic. Didnt think youy needed two bathrooms and it would be more effective it the downstairs bathroom was made into a bijou kitchenette. The staff where all very nice and accommodating with language barrier. One girl in particular on reception was exceptionally helpful (she had worked in Bath for 6months). The room was serviced twice a day and it was so nice to come back after an eveing out to find all clothes re-folded and fresh towels provided. I agree however, that it would have been more impressive had there been some little extra's provided in the room, in particular perhaps tea & coffee facilities (despite this not being common practice in european hotels) and a greater selection in the mini bar, also a DVD palyer. Breakfast was very basic, we were only offered cheese & ham, on the saturday (last day) not much choice for those of us that cant eat bread or pasteries. Because of the time of the year the terrace and jacuzzi were not in operation which was disappointing as it was hot enough to spend days on the beach further up the coast. There was a great restaurant with excellent wines and food turn left from hotel 2nd left about 300 meteres towards the old town, on Via Quartini if you stay at this hotel you must go, from the outside it just looks as if it is just a wine outlet, go inside you can watch the chef cook and he is wonderfully friendly. We stumbled on it one lunch time, and ended up going again on our last night the food is that good. If like us you want a night in and order a pizza dont go for 'grande' they are HUGE!!!

“Good Hotel but a bit sterile”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 June 2007

Good location on main shopping street and 5 mins walk from the old town. Stayed in one of the grand suites and the accomodation is beatifully appointed, the staff very efficient and your are well looked after. However it lacks character. Maybe because it is small but they also miss out on what I would call the attention to detail that I would expect from a hotel rated as a 5 star lusso . What I mean is that the little things were missing that make a stay memorable. We had just come from a 4 star hotel (at half the price) where they made sure that every day there was fresh fruit, and upon returning to the room they had always left something different maybe some fresh flowers, next day a couple of chocolates, a magazine etc. The cost minimal and I would have liked to have had this in such a highy classed hotel. I have given it an above average rating because they do nothing wrong and the roof terrace where we had breakfast was excellent, but it is just a bit sterile and not the best value.

“An Amazing Hotel, in a great setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 June 2007

We stayed in a suite called Smeradlo. It was lovely, everything you want from a hotel.
The view over the Corso is brilliant. We just loved watching the locals walk up and down the Corso all through the night.
