“Nice quiet place with privacy near Rome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2010

A nice quiet house with enough space for two. The entrance way is a dirt road, not easy to drive on with a luxury car. Lake Martignano near the house is a perfect place to end the day after for example visiting Rome. Rome is just 40 minutes by car away, although it might be a better idea to use public transport. Parking is not easy in Rome.
Entrance to the lake is free for guests of Il Castoro, beds can be rented for €4,- a piece per day.
A very nice place to combine leisure with citytrip.

“Paradise at the lake Martignano”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2010

It's not a hotel but an "agriturismo". There are four little appartments (ground floor) in an old barn. It's all part of a farm situated at the Lago Martignano. There is also a little camping site.
We went there in the summer of 2008 and 2009. We are a family of 5: Mom, dad, 3 boys aged 11 and (twins) 8.
We really loved it there: the landscape is beautiful, kids swimming in the lake all day long, big trees for shadow and hammocks. And there is a little beach-like restaurant with simple but lovely food (Wanda). It's all close to Lago Bracciano and Rome, so if you want to shop, visit a museum or dive into the nightlife, that's all in the vicinity (10-60 km, train to Rome leaving from Anguilara). In our opinion, a car is handy because Il Castoro lies in the middle of farmland so you cannot reach it by public transport. Maybe for the very sporty ones, you can cycle there.
In short: Paradise at the lake side!

“my favourite relax oasis near rome”

I am a satisfied costumer of this farm since a couple of years

I discovered the agriturismo when I need to relif Rome's umid hot in the summer. I personally find the sea and the beaches near to rome really awfull... crowded ... dirty .... so I started testing alternatives.
Its just perfect to get there and lay on a the hammocks they give out for free... and have a good launch at a decent price!
...and when night, you can rest either in the camping (I didnt personally) of in the apartments (I did, they are nicely furnished and really cheap indeed)

I keep on going there over the autumn, winter and spring, just when I need a relif over the year from job stress... I frequently head to the apartment they rent and spend a nicely relaxed weekend. The place is in the middle of the country nicely placed 200 mt from the shores of this amazing small lake. Its reserved, the owner is really kind and he become a family friend in the end...

To sum up, I feel like suggesting this place either for spending a nice we in the countryside, either to spend a day in the summer.

¡Que aproveche!
