“I loved Moneglia and Villa Edera!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2010

After three weeks of running around Italy and France last June/July, my friend and I wanted to find a nice place with a pool to relax on the Italian Riviera. Villa Edera is what we found and we couldn’t have been happier. Moneglia is close enough to the Cinque Terre to visit, but far enough away from the crazy tourist track. It’s a beach town and tourism thrives, but it’s still a town full of Ligurians.
We arrived to Moneglia by train and walked to Villa Edera. It’s conveniently located about five minutes from the station. Our room was large, spotless, but somewhat Spartan. I was surprised that there wasn’t a fridge in the room. The room itself was not impressive, but the terrace was nice.

The hotel and grounds were beautiful and comfortable. The pool was magnificent! Each morning I would sleep in and arrive for breakfast just before it ended. Then I would hang out at the pool for a few hours. My friend would join me there; she slept even later than I did. After the day at the pool we would often walk into town to shop, have a coffee, or a meal. The ten minute walk to town is charming; I enjoyed it very much. Sometimes we would catch the train to the Cinque Terre. It was nice to see the towns and have dinner someplace different.

Overall I loved the Villa Edera. I did think it was expensive at 140 Euros and was surprised it had three stars. The rooms seemed more like a two star to me; however, the pool was more like a five star. Maybe it all evened out. I would absolutely recommend staying here and I may even return this summer.

“Gluten free heaven”

This is a friendly and comfortable hotel on the edge of the cinque terre. We went with our family which includes our coeliac daughter who is eight. She was treated to entire gluten free meals breakfast and dinner. Cakes, pasta, bread, biscuits. Each day they would make a special lunch for her also. We found the location much more comfortable than the overcrowded cinque terre and only a couple of stops extra on the cinque terre train. Rooms were very comfortable and the staff were lovely. Highly recommended

“The ideal place to stay for visiting the Cinque Terre”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2010

This small family-run hotel exceeded our highest expectations.
Every one of the six 5-course evening meals included in the half-board were amongst the best in our many travel experiences, to say nothing of the breakfasts!
Every detail of the operation - rooms, service, amenities shows the pride of the owners.
A special place.

“A Thoroughly Wonderful Holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2010

My Family and I stayed for three weeks in July, and can't fault this family run Hotel or staff in the slightest. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The food was incredible, fresh, plentiful and such variety.

Our room was very comfortable for 2 adults, a teenager and a 9yr old, with plenty of space. It was kept very clean by the excellent room attendants, and had lovely views of the hills to the North and east of Moneglia.

The trains seem to bother some people, but I would suggest looking at a map the next time they plan a holiday to see where the hotel i slocated in relation to Motorways/Railways/Airports etc. We slept with our balcony doors open every night and were not bothered by the trains at all, in fact it only added to the character of Moneglia and the whole Ligurian experience.

Moneglia itself is a lovely welcoming village with great beach facilities and plenty of interesting cultural events throughout the season. The highlights for us were the classical concerts in the hall next to the Church of Santa Croce, and also the street parade for The Holy Christ Feast of San Giorgio.

Would and have definitely recommend this hotel and location, and certainly will return.

“Can't wait to go back!”

We had a wonderful two week holiday. All of the staff were friendly, cheerful and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, and the food was wonderful. Moneglia itself makes a wonderful centre for a relaxing holiday, and although the sound of the trains did disturb the peace it was great to be so close to the station when we staggered home at the end of a long day lazing around in the cafes of the Cinqueterre. Highly recommended, and we are definitely returning one day!
