“Awful!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

10 of us visited this hotel in July 2010 for my 18th birthday! The rooms we got, looked out Onto the strip and were dirty and grimey! 5 of us in one room and one of the beds were a camp bed that collapsed on the 1st dy nd never got replaced, the air con didn't work for the best part of a week and never got refunded! The toaster was rusty, oven was disgusted so even if we wanted to 'self cater' we couldn't! It was disgusting! One of the party members was in a terrible quad accident and ended in hospital, we had an angry Greek woman knocking on our door threatening the lads that if somebody didn't pay for repairs, one of us girls wouldn't b going home! and there was security 24hours on the front of the hotel, so how they got in I have no idea!! It was scary! Thankfully the police and Jaklyn for Thomson we're fantastic and ensures our safety, but still! I would never return to this hotel!!..........oh and on the first night the security guard punched one of the lads.... Hmmmm.

a fantastic hotel for young holiday goers! Brilliant accomodation with all the essentials. Great sized pools with plenty of sunbeds. All day and all night bar is available and home cooked food available on request. Had a fantastic stay. Right at the top of the Malia strip, so you dont miss out on any of the bars or clubs!

Room Tip: roms of 4 are very spacious and still comfortable. rooms for 2 are perfect size and plenty of room t...

“Best Hotel in Malia”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

Me and my friends visited Malia during the last week of the season so it was definatly quietening down. We arrived at reception, checked in and paid for air conditioning for the week which was 50 euros - then got taken to our room. There was no lift and our room was on the top floor but the man kindly helped us with our luggage. He was very friendly and offered us a welcome drink once we had unpacked.
First glances of the room is that its very basic: kitchen with cooker/hob, bathroom with shower and toilet and a bedroom with 2 beds, 1 bed in the front room/kitchen with a pull out matress underneath. When arriving we definatly expected alot worse from reading the reviews - We read about mice, cockroaches and crabs! We experienced nothing like this! People will moan about anything if they can - Your gunna get what you paid for and we only paid £170 for our holiday so no need to moan!!!
also If you notice anything wrong with the room you need to write it down because when checking out at the end of the holiday they go and check your room for any damage that you will have to pay for.
A welcome meeting is held on your first morning so the reps can introduce themselves and also offer you their "amazing" excursions - £175 euros they offered for all of them. We didn't do them we just done our own things, would rather not pay that amount just for a foam party or booze cruise.
The Hotel is in brilliant location, right on the strip. When stepping out the door your approached by soo many prs practically forcing you into their bars. They offer you good prices however when theyre offering you jagerbombs and shots your actually just getting orange juice lol... so its probably better you get some drink in your room before heading out.
Overall the holiday was amazing, any improvements that could of been made would be that we went a bit earlier in the year so it was a bit busier but serioulsy had the best week of my life!! Def going back to malia and this hotel - best one on the strip!!

“Malia is great, Hotel Ilios Malia is not.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2011

I'll start off with the positives... The location was brilliant, right on the Malia strip, you walk through a bar called the ice bar to get onto the strip which has good drink deals, to the right, you can take a short walk to old malia which has a beautiful restaurant once you pass through small streets there's also a spar and to the left is a street full of amazing clubs and restaurants. As expected the air conditioning cost 50 euros for the week and the safe was 15 euros for the week, between me and my friend that was around 32.5 euros each which is good because the safe is reasonably sized and inside a cupboard and the air conditioning is positioned high on the wall, has various speed/temperature settings and can be put on all night so you have a comfortable sleep. The reps are lovely and really enthusiastic for you to have a great holiday, they offer activities, however we decided to do our own thing because I'd heard bad reviews and that they're not worth the money, although videos of the activities were played on the last day whilst waiting for our transfer bus which was entertaining for the few waiting hours and actually looked quite enjoyable!
From outside the hotel looked really appealing and promising, there were plenty of places to sit, computers, a bar, food, small swimming pool and plenty of sun loungers, reception and a security guard.
The hotel itself inside however is such a disappointment, we were careful enough not to damage anything, a few doors for the cupboards were clearly soon coming off their hinges so we opted not to use them at all, the shower curtain pole had snapped at the side therefore the shower curtain was never used just in case, you get a tv but it doesn't get a signal ect.
When we first arrived we went around our room with a pen a piece of paper and wrote down every single visible damage down and handed it into reception as we noticed that the charges for damages was outrageous so we weren't taking any chances of being charged for things we didn't do (these damages actually took up a double sided piece of paper).
we seen the maid two or three times out of our seven night stay, she did regularly change our bins, but the bed sheets weren't changed once at all and we made sure we were out of bed before 12 because there's a leaflet saying they won't clean after that time, the floor was swept once the whole stay therefore our feet turned black after several minutes of walking on the floor, we received one roll of toilet roll to do us for the week and afterwards had to buy our own.
The receptionist was hardly ever there, the security guard was reasonably friendly however when there were a group of boys making excessive noise at 6/7am after coming in from a night out., he done nothing about it therefore we were kept up all night with shouting, slamming doors, whistles, singing and then people who obviously were staying in the opposite room shouting offensive abuse at the boys. We had planned to wake up early that morning to spend the whole day at the beach which was ruined because we got next to no sleep.
One of the days I was getting ready by the mirror and felt a tickling at my feet and when i looked down I noticed loads of tiny tiny little ants running by the crease in the wall, which obviously, we had to kill ourselves as there was no reception to ask for help.
On the last day just before going onto our transfer bus, i made a dash to the poolside toilet which i hadn't yet used and discovered there was no male/female toilets, they were unisex and there was also no toilet roll, soap or hand dryer, great way to depart from a hotel! (sarcasm)
Oh forgot to mention, they take your passports off you when you check in and give you them back once they make sure you haven't damaged anything, which if you have damaged something and refuse to pay, they'll keep your passports and get the police involved, this information was also written on a letter inside our room.

“Worst hotel ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2011

Just got back today what a dump of a hotel.I cant believe we payed £500 for what we got including the mice and cockroaches in the room I would of at least expected bedlice and crabs in the beds lol. There was 6 of us in 2 rooms.
When we first arrived the reps tried to get us to part with £275 for 12 trips including booze cruise, school disco and laser event .we didn't do this bundle we did the 6 events with 1 free for £155.I can tell u now they are not worth the money the one we got free was the laser party we meet some people out there who payed for it and we annoyed when they found out that the party was actually free and they had actually payed for plastic finger lights which you could probably get from the pound shop.
The rooms were filthy there was a pubic hair in one of the beds and the shower had no hot water and the shower head wasn't attached to the wall there was no plug for a bath.We were only given 1 toilet roll in a week and that was when we first arrived. The rooms were very basic and filthy are feet were dirty within seconds and there was dust everywhere .We saw the maid once in the week we were there.
The toilets by the pool never had toilet roll and we often found sick or that someone had missed the toilet and when we told the woman at reception she replied "and what do you expect me to do about it" .Food and drink was overpriced and a 0.5 litre water in the hotel cost 1 euro and in the spar which is a 3-5 minute walk cost 0.19 euros.
The Ice bar which u have to walk through to get to the hotel had very rude staff one in particular we had to complain about as he got insulting when we said we didn't want to drink there at the moment .
The twentysrep was brilliant and very helpful and even booked excursions out side of the normal ones they offer.
The hotel had no lifts and to get aircon was 70 euros for a week and 20 euros for a safe be warned the staff will try and get money out of u if u break or damage the room or if u get the sheets dirty it is 50 euros.Great location but dont bother trying to sleep as music starts at 6pm and finishes at 7am with pool music starting at 9am and the rooms are not sound proof.I definitely wont be going back
